KARACHI, Oct 10 2001: The Anti-Terrorist Wing of police has arrested four members
of a gang involved in killing of important religious
leaders and recovered from them a Kalashnikov, three
pistols with 46 rounds and a motorcycle. Police
identified the accused as Mufti Muhammad Shahid Hanif,
Muhammed Talha Husain alias Noman, Khalil Ahmad alias
Hasan Jan and Hyder Ali. Police said the arms and
motorcycle (BRF-9832) recovered from the accused were
used in committing the crimes. Police said the accused
confessed that they were involved in the murder of
religious leaders, including:

Rs8.75m reward for arrest of sectarian activists
KARACHI, Oct 15 2001: Sindh government, on Monday, announced reward money for the arrest of a dozen activists of Lashkar-i-Jhangvi and Sipah-i-Muhammed who are either absconding or declared proclaimed offenders.
The government announced a total reward money of Rs4.75m for seven absconding/ proclaimed offenders of Lashkar-i-Jhangvi and Rs4m for five such activists of Sipah-i- Muhammed.
(1) Qari Abdul Hai alias Qari Asad alias Talha s/o Ghulam Ali, r/o Alipur, District Muzaffargarh (Rs1m).
(2) Atta-ur-Rehman alias Nadeem Bukhari s/o Molvi Fakir Muhammed, r/o A-81/82, Paposhnagar, Karachi (Rs1m).
(3) Asif Ramzi s/o Mushtaq Ahmed (late), r/o 1-C/5/2, Abdul Ghaffar Manzil, Nazimabad, Karachi (Rs1m).
(4) Rizwan Ali alias Asif alias Chottoo alias Hafiz s/o Ahmed Khan, r/o Arra Machine Sirat Khan, Landhi, Muhammed Nagar, Karachi, r/o District Muzaffargarh, Tehsil Kot Addoo, P.O. Box and PS Daira Deenapana (Rs0.5m)
(5) Muhammed Rashid s/o Abdul Rasheed, r/o R-382, Sector A, Jacob Lines (Rs0.5m).
(6) Muhammed Umer s/o Muhammed Saddiq alias Haji Sahib, r/o Shah Faisal Colony No 4, Karachi (Rs0.25m).
(7) Lal Muhammed alias Lal Bhai alias Haji alias Faqeer alias Qasim s/o Muhammed Shafi, r/o Chak No 72-15L, District and Tehsil Khanewal, present residence Orangi Town, Sector 10 Karachi (Rs0.5m).

More Lashkar-e-Jhangvi activist arrested
KARACHI, Oct 19 2001: Sleuths of
Anti-terrorists Wing (ATW) of Sindh police nabbed an
activist of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LJ), accused of being
involved in more than ten high-profile sectarian killings
and carrying Rs 500,000 head money, ATW insiders
disclosed.
"The ATW
contingent, headed by DSP Farooq Awan, arrested Muhammad
Rashid, alias Undha, the closest associate of Asif Ramzi,
from his hideout in Shershah," said the source
adding: "Police high-ups were trying to maintain
secrecy, but it's a big catch." The activist was
nabbed on the disclosure by his close associate arrested
earlier from Jacob Lines.
The accused confessed
that he was involved in the murders of DSP Sadiq Hussain
and his son Constable Abid Hussain in Al-Falah (more); Imtiaz
Ali and Muhammad Abbas in Jauharabad; Nazar Abbas and
Muzaffar Abbas in Soldier Bazaar; Shaban and Fida Husain
in Gulbahar and others.
