Built late in 1977, the Porsche 935/2.0 Baby was a development of the 935/77 racer. Both were highly modified Group 5 racing versions of the road-going 911.

The 935 race car program began in the mid '70s and the first 935s bore a reasonable resemblance to the 911 Turbo Carrera.

But as development progressed, certain licence was taken with the CSI regulations in which an allowance had been made for modifications to the front fenders - ostensibly as a way of incorporating larger wheels and tyres. Specifically, the rules stated that 'the material and shape of the fenders is free'.

This being the case, the 935/76 was modified so that it no longer featured the near vertical headlamp housings that were an unmistakable feature of the 911. These were replaced with completely new fenders that curved in unison with the shape of the bonnet lid thereby significantly improving the airflow at the front of the car and multiplying the downforce. The headlamps were simply and elegantly incorporated into the front air dam.

The '76' was a triumph and romped to victory in the World Championship For Makes in the hands of Jacky Ickx and Jochen Mass.
