"TTTriple TTTrouble!!!"
Part I:
Robotnik sets a Chaos Emerald onto a power inducer. However,
Crabmeat set the controls wrong, and an explosion causes the Chaos Emerald
to split into to pieces. The Chaos Emerald is now dangerous and powerful.
Robotnik calls "Bounty Hunters 'R' Us," hoping he can find the Chaos Emerald
before Sonic. Soon Tails gets Sonic to leave his chili dogs to meet
Rotor. The three watch a monitor and see the Chaos Emerald crash
into the Great Forest. A new zone (like the ones found in Sonic games)
is created before their eyes. Sonic rushes off, leaving a shadow
in his dust.
Meanwhile, Knuckles sees a green meteor crash into Mt. Osohai, part
of the Dragon Spine Mountain Range. Knuckles glides to the mountain
and finds the Chaos Emerald, which is making its way deeper into the mountain.
To play it safe, Knuckles tries gliding as the mountain shakes. A
rock hits him on the head, and Knuckles falls unconscious to the ground.
Part II: "Zone Sweet Zone!"
As Sonic enters Triple Trouble (which you can play on Game Gear),
Robotnik instructs a figure to follow Sonic and prevent him from getting
the emerald shard. The shadow gets in his sky-cycle, ready to follow
Sonic. Sonic blasts his way through different zones: Great
Turquoise Zone, Sunset Park Zone, Meta Jungura Zone, Robotnik Winter Zone,
Tidal Plant Zone, and Atomic Destroyer Zone. Sonic makes his way
to the Chaos Emerald and picks it up. Suddenly he is hit from behind.
Nack the Weasel appears, pleased with his neural disruptor and the Chaos
Emerald.
Part III: "Echidnapped!"
Sonic is tied up, and Nack reports to Robotnik that he got half of
the Chaos Emerald. When instructed to bring the other half, Nack
doubles the price. Robotnik agrees, and Nack heads off to the Floating
Island. Meanwhile, Knuckles finds himself facing the Ancient Walkers,
who he read about in the Book of Myths. The Ancient Walkers draw pictures
on the wall to explain to Knuckles what is going on with the Chaos Emerald.
The half Chaos Emerald will tunnel into the ground until it reaches the
Chaos Emerald that gives the Floating Island its power. If the two
Emeralds join, the island will be destroyed. The Ancient Walkers send
Knuckles back to the island. Knuckles sees Nack approaching and hits
Nack with his Knuckles. Nack is unconscious as the sky cycle sinks
into the lake. Knuckles says he doesn't care about the sky cycle.
However, Sonic was in the trunk. He uses a sonic spin to make his way
to the surface, ready to fight.
Part IV: "Blue Blur vs. Rough & Red!"
Sonic jumps out of the water and begins a fight with Knuckles.
Soon they hear Robotnik's voice and see his image on Nack's communicator.
Sonic says they should move Nack like a puppet and make him respond to
Robotnik. Robotnik tells Nack to bring him both halves of the Chaos
Emerald and ends the communication. Sonic finds half of the Chaos
Emerald in Nack's backpack as Knuckles reveals a short cut to the Central
Chamber (where the Floating Island's gem is located). Sonic runs down
the path as he holds on to Knuckles' hand. Knuckles grabs the second
half of the Chaos Emerald, and the two pieces return into a whole Chaos
Emerald. Suddenly Sonic and Knuckles are on the surface without a
Chaos Emerald. The two are confused, so Sonic decides to go home.
Sonic presses a button on Nack's wrist radio and the sky cycle comes up
to the surface. Sonic ties Nack up and leaves, but neither Sonic nor
Knuckles trust each other.
Epilog:
The Ancient Walkers draw a circle in the sand and look up to the sky.
Suddenly a Chaos Emerald appears and lands in the middle of the circle.
One of the Ancient Walkers picks up the emerald.
"Submersible Rehearsal"
Rotor shows Tails his new submarine: "The Sea Fox." Tails
is excited since he was wanting one since he rode in Rotor's Bathysphere
(from Sonic the Hedgehog
mini-series #1). As Tails gets ready to start the sub, Rotor
apologizes and says that Princess Sally ordered him not to put any oil
in the sub. Rotor says Tails will have lots of fun pretending to
drive the sub. Tails is furious, sick and tired of being treated
like a child. Suddenly a sea gull gasps for life in the water.
The sea gull is covered in oil, and he explains that a robot is turning
everyone underwater into robots. Tails thought that the robot had
already been defeated (Sonic mini-series #1),
but the sea gull explains that this new robot is worse. The sea
gull says he doesn't know what to do with all of the oil that is on him,
and Tails comes up with an idea.
Soon Tails is underwater, thanks to the oil from the sea gull.
Octobot has captured many fish and it is ready to turn them into robots.
Tails rams the Sea Fox into Octobot and then fires a torpedo at the underwater
robot factory. Tails and Octobot are blown out of the water as the
factory explodes. Octobot swears revenge as Tails returns to the dock.
The sea gull congratulates Tails, who is excited to tell the freedom fighters
about his adventure.
(Mobius Free Press
Tails is getting his own mini-series. Issue #1 is on sale October 1995,
#2 in November, and #3 in December. The storyline
begins in Sonic #28 and
continues to #29.)
"First Contact"
Knuckles saves Vector from falling into a volcano. As Vector
walks off, Knuckles sees a stone that reads "Archimedes" and points to
the right. Knuckles decides to follow the arrow. As he walks
by, he sees Catweazle. When asked if something unusual passed by,
Catweazle says that it has been peaceful. Knuckles keeps walking
when suddenly a robot shoots fire at him. He hides behind a rock and
figures that "Archimedes" must be Robotnik since Robotnik has tricked him
before (in Sonic the
Hedgehog #13 and the Sonic &
Knuckles special). Knuckles destroys the robot and soon finds
himself faced with another robot bearing an axe. Knuckles destroys
this robot and continues walking. Suddenly he falls down a hole and
lands in the Chaos Chamber. A voice says that first Knuckles thought
he was a hedgehog (from the Sonic
& Knuckles special) and now a tyrant. The voice
continues that he is Archimedes and says Knuckles is too quick to react and
not reflect. Suddenly the voice stops and Knuckles is left alone.
That evening, Vector finds Knuckles trying to think. Knuckles says
he has a puzzle to solve and its name is Archimedes.
(To find out more about Vector and Archimedes, read the Knuckles' Chaotix special.)
