At the Devil's Gulag, prisoners run wild while guards try to stop them. Snively stands, mouth agape.

Sonic relaxes at Sand-Blast City, enjoying massages and chili-dogs. Tails hates the way Sonic is behaving and recalls how after the bi-plane crashed, they ran into Jack Rabbitt and a new group of freedom fighters: the Sand-Blasters. Suddenly robians attacked, but Sonic stopped them and soon decided to stay with the Sand-Blasters even though it meant putting off the mission to stop Ixis Naugus. Sonic interrupts Tails from his thoughts, and Tails asks to speak with Sonic alone. The girls in the room leave and stand outside the door, listening as Sonic and Tails argue over whether they should stay. Jack approaches the girls and says that Sonic will never leave the city.

Snively tries to escape, but the other prisoners pick him up. Everyone wants to hear how Snively freed them. Snively stutters, and Drago assumes Snively will tell everyone later.

That night, Sonic wakes up Tails and says that he has been pretending to like staying in Sand-Blast City so they wouldn't suspect he knew what was going on. Sonic says they should escape when suddenly Jack and some Sand-Blasters appear. Sonic begins to run, and Tails files behind him. Jack orders everyone to capture Sonic without hurting him. Sonic quickly orders Tails to find the bi-plane as he tries to stop the protective field around the city. Tails manages to quickly locate the bi-plane and pulls the tarp away. A group of Sand-Blasters arrive, so Tails drops the tarp on them. Meanwhile, Sonic races around the city, searching desperately for the controls to the field. Finally Sonic realizes where the controls are and speeds off toward the huge statue of himself.

Sonic bursts through the statue as Tails takes off in the bi-plane. Jack is furious and ready to destroy Sonic. Suddenly robians appear, giving Sonic enough time to run away. The robians begin to surround Sonic. As Sonic begins to say his good-byes, Tails grabs Sonic's hand and lifts him into the bi-plane. Sonic looks back at the city as Snively tells the prisoners to fly toward Robotropolis.

Sally approaches the armory, only to be stopped by Lieutenant Smiley. Sally insists on seeing Geoffrey. Lt. Smiley tells Sally that Geoffrey is not there and she is unauthorized to enter the armory.

Meanwhile, Geoffrey and his team avoid fire and make their way into a building. Heavy uses his technology to gain access to a room, where the security systems asks for the robot to state its business. Heavy says he has information for Robotnik, and the security system grants access. Valdez disables the sensors, and Wombat Stu throws a rope down an elevator shaft. After making his way to the bottom, Geoffrey finds a lead pipe just a few feet away from a swatbot. Geoffrey hits the swatbot on the head, knocking it to the ground. In order to succeed, the team must take the heavy swatbot back to their headquarters. Hershey pushes a cart she found, and soon everyone helps push the swatbot outside. Sally appears, demanding to know what is going on. Geoffrey explains that Sally cannot order him since he has been ordered by King Acorn. Sally is shocked and plans on talking to her father as the team pushes the cart away.

Sonic-Grams highlight:
~ When Ixis controlled King Acorn's mind, he was the one responsible for ordering the dismantling of the robians
