Sonic and Tails run through some woods and find an entrance to a zone.
As they approach the entrance, the two are sucked into the zone. Sonic
makes a rough landing and looks around the physics-defying zone. He
realizes something is familiar about the zone. Suddenly, something
shoots Sonic and Tails and they fall down.
Horizontal and Vertical, now robots, recollect how they used to have fun
and even encountered Sonic. However, when the Ultimate Annihilator
was activated, the zone was destroyed to sub-atoms. Al and Cal managed
to survive and later reformed. The power of the friends increased,
along with their growing distrust. They reemerged as enemies ready
to fight.

Al and Cal use their powers to take control over Sonic and Tails, who will
fight against each other. Sonic and Tails become fitted with weapons
and armor and begin to fight. The two seem evenly matched until Sonic
manages to tangle Tails' tails. Tails falls to the ground, and Sonic
rushes in for the kill.

Tails begs for Sonic to stop and says that they're friends. Sonic
stops, retaking control over his mind. Sonic and Tails hug, making Al
and Cal furious. Sonic asks what happened to Al and Cal. Cal refuses
to answer and demands to know how Sonic and Tails overcame his power.
Tails says that the power of friendship can beat anything and tells Al and
Cal that they must stop fighting in order to survive in the zone.
Al and Cal think about being friends like the old days, then shoot each
other. Sonic and Tails run away and are soon ejected from the zone.
Tails says that Al and Cal will probably fight forever while Sonic worries
about finding a chili dog stand.

Sally, Hamlin, Lupe, Erik,
Rotor, and Hershey form a circle as they sky dive. Sally breaks the circle
and glides to the ground without a care. When she lands, a boy sees her
and invites her to dinner. Sally decides to find her companions first and
quickly finds Rotor, Hamlin, and Hershey. They search for Lupe and Erik
and soon find Erik hanging from a tree. Sally pulls out a knife and throws
it at the parachute, cutting Erik to the ground. The group continues to
find Lupe, who is close by, and then they follow the boy to the dinner, prepared
by his mother. That night, everyone arrives back at Castle Acorn where Rosie
offers to make Sally some cocoa. King Acorn stands by a monitor, and Geoffrey
St. John informs him that Sally returned. The king orders a guard to escort
Sally to him so he can talk to her.
