Part One:
A young Uncle Chuck watches in horror as his device, programmed to extend
the lives of Mobians, turned his brother into a mindless robot. Uncle
Chuck explains that he installed new technology into his optic sensors,
allowing the freedom fighters to watch events from the past recorded by Uncle
Chuck and others. He continues to explain that the footage just shown
was obtained by his spy network. The footage proves that Robotnik,
then known as Warlord Julian, tampered with Uncle Chuck's roboticizer to
use it as a weapon. Uncle Chuck is upset that he will never be able
to deroboticize everyone. Sally says that she has an idea. That
night, Uncle Chuck continues to reminisce around the campfire. He explains
that Robotnik knew Uncle Chuck would feel guilty about his machine.
Uncle Chuck resigned as scientific advisor, abandoning his duties as the
inventor Sir Charles. He then went on to open his own chili-dog stand.
Uncle Chuck explains that he has been a poor spy since Sleuth Doggy Dog was
a traitor (in Sonic the Hedgehog #42), and he
had no idea about the Death Egg (in the SonicQuest mini-series). As Sonic
enjoys his chili-dogs, the freedom fighters hear noises that sound like wolves.
Part Two:
Dulcy breathes fire to reveal Lupe
and her wolf pack group of freedom fighters (first seen in the Saturday morning
cartoon show "Sonic the Hedgehog" in the episode "Cry of the Wolf"). The
group summarizes their recent battle and says that Robotnik is building a new
line of powerful robots. One wolf named Drago
is upset that they are eating with a robot and thinks that he is a spy.
Sonic tries to defend Uncle Chuck, but Geoffrey St. John appears. Geoffrey
kisses Sally and then explains that he has been following Uncle Chuck. He
reveals that Sleuth Doggy Dog was the one that gave Uncle Chuck the video, just
weeks before Sleuth betrayed everyone. Sally says that the footage could
still be authentic. Geoffrey insists that Uncle Chuck is a spy and is secretly
working for Robotnik. Furious, Sonic punches Geoffrey. Geoffrey manages
to get back on his feet and ties Sonic up to a tree, saying that it takes more
than speed to fight--the last lesson Sonic will ever learn.

Part Three:
Antoine punches Geoffrey, saying that even Sonic does not deserve death.
When asked why he is upset, Antoine says that Geoffrey is the traitor. Antoine
says that the top general and friend of King Acorn convinced the king that he
would someday need the Rebel Underground. Antoine trained for the day when
the kingdom would fall under attack. However, before the Rebel Underground
was established, the general fell victim to Robotnik's war. Geoffrey demands
to know who this general was, and Antoine attacks Geoffrey again and says that
it was Antoine's father.
Sally breaks up the fight as Tails says is he's surprised that Antoine was never
a soldier. Bunnie says that Antoine has always been courageous and explains
how he once saved her life before she was roboticized. Antoine was faithful
and soon his dedication developed into love for Sally. However, when it
became obvious that Sally did not love him, Antoine lost his focus. Bunnie
then leaves the group to confront Antoine. She tells Antoine that she thinks
he is brave and that she cares for him. Bunnie gives Antoine a kiss on the
cheek. Meanwhile, Lupe asks Drago why he had disappeared without permission
for the third time this week. Lupe is suspicious and says she will keep
her eye on Drago. Geoffrey agrees and says he will keep an eye on Uncle
Chuck. Antoine demands that Geoffrey is the traitor. Sally yells,
breaking up the argument, and tells everyone that they must stop making accusations
since everyone here is loyal. She says they must wait for Knuckles to be
successful with his quest.

Using the clues given to him by the paladin (from the last issue), Knuckles explores the Floating
Island's caverns. Suddenly the ground gives way, and Knuckles glides to
safety. He explores the lower cavern and climbs down a bank to find who
he believes are Mathias Poe
and Damocles the Elder. As Knuckles climbs down, his knuckles lose its hold on
the bank, and Knuckles falls to the ground. Mathias Poe puts herbs in his
kettle and creates a metal golem. Knuckles tries to fight the golem, but
he cannot do any damage to the robot. He then realizes that the golem will
move as long as it has a supply of magic and realizes he needs to create a distraction.
Archimedes appears in front of Mathias Poe and breathes fire at the raven.
The golem stops, and Knuckles quickly destroys it. Archimedes says he hid
in Knuckles' backpack to save Knuckles. The two investigate Damocles the
Elder, who is actually a fake. Knuckles realizes that he should have known
that Mathias Poe was working alone, thanks to the clue given by the Ancient Walkers
(in Sonic #42). Archimedes wonders
where the real Damocles the Elder could be as some potions spill onto the fake
Damocles. The fake Damocles begins to wear away from the acid, which transforms
the dummy into the Sword of Acorns. Knuckles grabs the sword and demands
to be taken to the Hall of Limbo and the Crown of Acorns. The sword does
not do anything, so Archimedes suggests that the sword only works for royalty.
Knuckles' quest has ended, and now he must return the sword to Princess Sally.
