Part I:
Sonic sets off some land mines, and Rotor digs a hole to find an electrical cable.
To his surprise, there are two cables. Sonic says that one is a trap, so
Rotor pulls one of them. A force field is instantly created around the freedom
fighters. Swatbots start to run toward them just as a Nerb
tunnels to the surface. (A Nerb is a creature with a floppy hat, pocket
protector, tie--with the tie clip, glasses, and pointed boots. In other
words, a Nerb is like a nerd.) The freedom fighters force their way into
the tunnel. The King of the Nerbs blames the freedom fighters for the Nerbs'
underground problems, refuses to help them, and forces them to leave. The
freedom fighters make their way to the Mobian Sewer System, and Sonic runs down
the tunnel to investigate a noise.
Part II:
Sonic discovers Robotnik with a machine excavator. Robotnik has
also captured three Nerbs. Sonic destroys part of the machine and
rescues the Nerbs. He forces them into a wheelbarrow and pushes them
into the sewer. Once he leads the Nerbs to the freedom fighters, Sonic
rushes to a set of doors. He uses a buzz saw spin to open the doors,
releasing the Mobius River. After being chased by the river, Sonic
uses a spin to reach the surface. Later, for their acts, the freedom
fighters are declared honorary Nerbs.

The freedom fighters are using Antoine's hot air balloon to find an
area for the annual freedom fighters picnic. However, this is halted
when Buzzbombers pop the balloon. The freedom fighters crash into
a tree. The Buzzbombers report to Robotnik what happened. Snively
figures out what the freedom fighters were doing, so they plan an attack.
The next day, Antoine is upset that everybody hates is balloon. He
decides to make some repairs while the freedom fighters begin their picnic.
Robotnik launches his attack, and Antoine flies to the rescue on his balloon.
After stopping the robots, he picks up Robotnik and throws him into a lake.
Later, on the way home, the hot air burner breaks. But Antoine is
talking so much that they won't run out of hot air.
