Silverchair Asylum: The Unofficial Silverchair Street Team was started by me, Nikki Edwards, in October of 2002. There was an official team (S.T.O.M.P.) formed in June of the same year which excited a lot of Silverchair fans. We thought that we could finally help the chair get the exposure they deserved. The team started off slow, and a lot of us thought that it just needed some time, then it would surely start promoting. We were wrong. The team hasn't been updated for a very long time now, and it does Silverchair no good. Even when it was being updated with missions, they were pathetic. The only one that could have possibly helped the band was one where we had to post the link to a "Diorama player" on messageboards. The part I didn't understand was why the winners of the contest were the ones with the most replies in their thread. It would have made more sense to make the winners those who posted on the most boards, spreading Silverchair over as much of the internet as possible. Our missions will make sense, and won't only be based on the internet. The missions will (try to) include all countries. We want to promote Silverchair anywhere and everywhere.

On S.T.O.M.P., there were also a lot of Silverchair fans promised "prizes" (usually in the form of an autographed poster) who never recieved them. That is just not right. So, I promise, if there are ever any prizes offered on here, we will send them. No lies here. We're all Silverchair fans running this, so we would never disappoint any fellow fans like that. You have my word.

As you may have noticed, we're trying to be a little more than just a street team. We want to be a community. Check out the member bios and visit the messageboard (which is actually the official team's board... go to the misc. section for more information on that).

Please, if you're a Silverchair fan who wants to see these three extremely talented guys get the recognition they deserve all over the world, join this team and visit the mission section whenever possible. Don't forget to check out the tools section, as well, where you'll find buddy icons, banners, and other goodies to post all over the internet and your town. Spread our link to all of your friends who you think might be interested in joining. Because of the fact that we're unofficial, this is going to be a little more difficult for us than it was for the official team, but with your help, we can do it.

Where did you get the name, "Silverchair Asylum"?
I posted on S.T.O.M.P.'s messageboard, asking what the name for the unofficial team should be, and got many replies. I narrowed those down to five: Chair Aware, Chairhead Militia, Silverchair Asylum, Chair Slaves, and No Association. Everyone voted (all 22 active posters), and Silverchair Asylum won. It was submitted by Kym (DaNiELjOhNsGF). If anyone is wondering what the word asylum has to do with Silverchair, the song "Asylum" is a b-side on the "Without You" single. It's a beautiful song, and if you haven't heard it, I suggest you buy the single.
