Space Information: Sirnef
<---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->
The Sirnef race is a favorite of new players and those who want to have an easier start.  The Sirnef race has the best habability on opponents planets with a minimum of 70%.  This does not include grey planets but still the probability of discovering a good hab planets is much higher than for other races.  The Sirnef's main advantage is their research bonus.  Therefore the Sirnef will do far more research than any other race and be able to produce very formitable ships.  However Sirnefs also make very good targets for all other races, so choosing this race is a two-edged sword.  It can be very easy to get a good start and do well, but you will be hunted more than any other race.

The Sirnef can choose any type of ship design available, as none has any bonuses attibuted to it due to the fact the Sirnef has zero military bonuses.  Personally I believe due to the amount of research required to make high accuracy fighters/missiles that these should be the weapon of choice for the Sirnef.  If so the larger ships are better suited for such weapons and while a swarm fleet is possible, heavier class ships become more readily viable.

Since the main advantage of the Sirnef is their ability to research, then they are able to build higher tech ships than any other race.  Therefore research should be done several slots above that of any other races.

Military Techs are defined as Hull, Shields, Sensors, Weapons and Engines.
<---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->
The backbone of the Sirnef fleet are Heavy Battle Cruisers.  A fleet of a mere 100 such ships can conquer a planet in one tick, if built right.  To the right is the final design for just such a ship.  Heavy battle cruisers can combine power, defense and accuracy in a deadly weapon. With the Sirnef ability of a lower research cost for all categories high level techs are easily attainable.

The ship is a heavy battle cruiser, which has a total of 23 slots.  Four slots of engines, 2 slots of shields, 3 slots of hull, 4 slots of sensors and 10 slots of missiles.  All tech levels at 20.
<---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->
While the heavy battlecruisers will form the bulk of the Sirnef armada, in order to obtain battle bonuses other types of ships will be included.  One of these is the battleship.  A small number of such ships will join with the battlecruisers to provide sensor and damage bonuses to each other.  These battleships are built less for pure damage and more for accuarcy, ensuring that any stealth fleets encountered will be dealt with easily.

A heavy battleship has 29 available slots:  3 for shields, 3 for hull, 6 for engines, 11 for missiles and 6 for sensors.  All tech levels at 20.
<---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->
For added protection against enemy fleets and minefields a third ship class is added to each Sirnef fleet, a heavy cruiser.  This ship wields beams to deal with any stray mines and also sports a high levle of shields and hull to better protect the more offensively minded ships of the fleet.

A heavy cruiser has 19 available slots:  3 for shields, 3 for hull, 3 for engines, 5 for beams and 5 for sensors.
<---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->
There is not much of a strategy with these designs, they are rather straightforward.  There is no evasion, no hit-and-fade tactics will do with the above ships.  They can be altered to better suit that purpose but that is not what they are designed for.  They are designed for a toe-to-toe fight, going head to head with the enemy and ripping the opposing fleet to shreads.  Acompanying each fleet of ships will be the Sirnef unique, at a 1 to 20 ratio.  This unique is built simply, enough engines to match the speed of the other ships and the rest of the available slots going towards hull and shields for protection.  It is not a fighting ship at all, but only used to gain research points from hull damage inflicted on enemy fleets.
