Space: Galaxies & Alliances
<----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->
I have been playing this game for quite a while now.  Each galaxy lasts, if you survive, about 6-8 weeks.  Therefore if an individual plays only one accounts, as I have done up to this point, then it takes a while to rack up the amount of galaxies I have played in.  I am definitely not one of the older players of the game, it was around for a couple of years before I joined.  However I feel that I have made a contribution and at least some of the other players at least know who I am now, whether that be a good thing or bad I am unsure at this time as I don't always follow the common thinking in several areas of the game.

Choosing an alliance is one of the most important, if not the most important, decision a player must make in a galaxy.  However I am not extremely choosy when it comes to picking my alliancemates.  I will ally with newbies, veterans and all players in between.  However I do require my allies to be active, and competent.  Therefore if I determine that my current alliancemates are lacking I may move to another alliance, but this has rarely happened.  I have been general, leader and soldier in various alliances.  I enjoy the general position the most, as I get to match wits against the battle strategies of other players.

My very first galaxy, I had read the forums for hints but didn't have the best idea on how to play.  My research strategy was flawed, my ship designs were terrible and my building ratios were incorrect.  However SeleniumAce allowed me access to his account to view what he did to better learn the game.  It was a great help and laid the foundation for my learning the different parts of the game.

Silverbolt of Middle Earth (Sirnef)
Pugs Birthright of Isle of Stardock
SSHades of UnderWorld
Still doing just about every aspect of the game incorrectly, my alliancemates weren't much help.  We died rather easily as our leader (RC) was not very diplomatic at all and was semi-active.  Nothing of note learned in this galaxy.

Silverbolt of Middle Earth (Sirnef)
A better galaxy than 21, my allies were active and communicative.  Still picking up the ideas of the game, however my research technique was getting better and I wasn't wastine so much time on useless techs any longer.  Instead was performing research on the Research topic first before moving to other topics, only too me a few months to figure that one out.  We still died somewhat easily, nothing interesting to report.
Galaxy 37:  Died
An interesting galaxy, especially with the very nice allies I was paired with, especially Eisix.  Finally starting to get the hang of building ships, as well as the building ratios that I need on each planet.  My first very successful galaxy with an ending in the top 20, I was suprised as I felt it would be much harder to do so.  However future galaxies would show that the game wasn't as tough as I initially assumed.

The Space servers crashed terribly during Galaxy 59.  So much so that they lost the entire game and everyone's warchest.  Galaxy 59 ended with 78 players remaining, therefore the awards are not one hundred percent accurate, but I am confident that I would have ended with a bronze star in the least.  Jolly Green Giant was the top alliance by over one hundred planets, and we were currently eating another alliance and would have gained another one hundred planets before the end of the server, easy.  Therefore we would have ended as the top alliance with two members in the top ten and me just outside, if not part of the top ten myself.  I personally was having my best game up to that point, I was in the leaderboard for every single economic category and most of the military categories as well.

Once the server restarted all of the addicted and hard-core players were starting in the same galaxy.  This made this one of the most hotly contested and dangerous galaxies ever.  Not suprising I didn't survive.  However my demise had more to do with the mulitplayer that had infected my alliance than anything else.  Apparently there was a player with over a dozen accounts in the galaxy, and two were in my alliance.  Vader and I had no idea but this individual brought 2 alliances to attack and eat his/her planets while Vader and I fought Greenback.  We lost against Greenback, obviously and as a result didn't get to see the multiplayer die off.

I started the galaxy in the alliance Blagoevgrad, with the leader Cic, and we did not run into many difficulties.  However two of the members were semi inactive and none of other players were tactically intelligent.  Therefore when we encountered Raystorm Aces I was asked by Dangime to switch to their alliance to replace their inactive player.  I agreed, this was the first time I had ever left an alliance in Space.  Afterwards we did very well until we encountered a pair of alliances who were using the instant-alliance-swap bug and abused it during our war to gain a tactical advantage during a major battle.  Regardless that alliance had it's hands full afterwards with several annoyed players and we finished our galaxy out rather easily.

Started the galaxy rather hemmed in by other larger alliances and semi-active neighbors whom we had to fight to break into open ground.  My first galaxy being all-out general, I had a blast.  Teamed up with a neighbor to take on an alliance that was twice our size, as expected the enemy fleet attacked my alliance as our neighbor grabbed uncontested planets.  For a week I played tag with that fleet until they made a mistake and split their fleet.  Once that happened we destroyed their split fleet, and then the reinforcements as well.  However once that was finished our neighbor Lady Bodakar dropped her nap, her alliance was three times our size and our fleet was damaged.  However since she didn't have an Oomarii in her alliance I played hide-and-seek with her fleets for two weeks, destroying minor fleets in 2 ticks before reinforcements could arrive.  Unfortunately we were eventually overwhelmed, but not before Lady B decided to allow me to live with one planet out of respect for the fight I put up.  This was the most fun I have ever had in a galaxy so far.

After galaxy 12 this one was a cakewalk.  Nothing very challenging came our way and we didn't run into any roadblocks or noteable occurances.  Basically just ate everyone around us that was smaller with little resistance.
Galaxy 23:  Rank 11
Wolfpack
Silverbolt of Middle Earth (Oomarii)
Aktavian of Imperial Abyss
King Rat of Nest
Dread of the Dead
This galaxy was very similar to the last galaxy, nothing of note happened.  However it was my first galaxy tring my hand in the leadership role.  I believe I did rather well.  We started on the edge of the galaxy and had to convince a member of a lower ranked alliance (King Rat) to join us instead in order to break out and have any targets at all.
Galaxy 31:  Rank 10
Wolfpack
Silverbolt of Middle Earth (Sirnef)
Coulton of Coultonia
Marton of Arete
Daleen of Orcania
In this galaxy I eneded up joining up with the creator of the game.  Apparently everyone likes to kill off Coulton when they find him ingame.  Therefore I made my goal for this galaxy to ensure he survived his first galaxy.  Rank and leaderboards were not important this galaxy, only making sure Coulton survived, which he did.
Galaxy 39:  Rank 12
Star Force
Out of the Question
Silverbolt of Middle Earth (Sirnef)
Blue Ruler of Blue Planet
Kyfin of Banofor
This galaxy was a continues fight from begining to end.  Our aliance ended up have a total of 7 members, with us replacing one when another was defeated.  We were in constant war with a much larger alliance for the entire galaxy.  Because of the fight I gave them they allowed me to survive with one planet to the end of the galaxy.  Which was only a few days away by the time we were completed wiped out.
Galaxy 51:  Rank 57
All I need to say about this galaxy is long live the swarm fleet.  Recently most players on the forums have been saying how escort swarm fleets are a thing of the past.  I disagree.  As a result the next two galaxies I played the Kreel race and had the most ships in each galaxy for the majority of the time.  With this swarm fleet I was able to make most of our enemies miss while my allies wiped them out.  I feel it was extremely effective and as a result I don't listen to everything the "veteran" players say.

This galaxy was almost a clone of galaxy 61, same fleet composition, same result.  An almost identical finish and the swarm fleet worked exactly the same.  We didn't have any trouble dealing with any alliances we declared war on, and as a result it was a rather easy galaxy.
Galaxy 67:  Rank 21
Ji have this game far too easy.  My first attempt as a Ji and at one point near the end of the galaxy I was close to being the number one empire.  I got a bit carried away unfortunately and started taking more than my share of planets from my allies, however a quick note from Remus cured that very selfish attitude.  We did not run into much major resistance in this galaxy, and as a result I ended the galaxy on top of the most buildings leaderboard.  However due to someone hacking witte's account and screwing him out of the red star the admins had to fix witte's account and in the process I lost my award in the warchest.  However I, and a few others, know the truth.

Took on the leadership role again this galaxy and put together a very enjoyable group of individuals.  We got along very well, which was good as the galaxy itself was boring.  We encountered almost zero resistance and ended up declaring war on a larger alliance, K-19, near the end of the galaxy.  They were occupied elsewhere so we stole about 100 planets before they could react.  We were set to get into one huge battle with their fleet but unfortunately a friend of K-19 from another alliance dropped out of their alliance and started an individual attack.  As a result we had to move to wipe out their fleet and by the time that was finished we had run out of time to wipe out K-19's fleet.

Leader again, and this time it caused problems.  We ended up having a border with the leader from K-19 from galaxy 81, KAE.  He was holding a grude and refused to Nap with us.  As a result we went to war far sooner than alliances should and we were both of equal strength when it started.  However they had an Oomarii in their alliance and we didn't, therefore they took good advantage of that fact and wiped out our fleets time and time again.  Having never fought against an alliance that had the travel bonus as an advantage I was befuddled for a while on how to combat them.  Near the end of the galaxy I finally determined the best tactic against them, but it was too late at that time.  While our fight did last the entire galaxy, we were all defeated a few days before the galaxy ended.

Having played Ji for my past 3 galaxies I was completely unused to the slow starts that all other races enjoy.  That coupled with being boxed in at 20 planets gave me a terrible start I never completely recovered from.  However the alliance I landed in with Herb, Tak and Alin by far made up for anything that happened this galaxy.  Never before had I been in an alliance where all four members could be general with equal abilities before.  I could take a break from being leader and general at the same time and instead be a simple soldier.  I learned quite a few things this galaxy, some battle tactics and some insights into how others perform their leader duties.  Overall while we were about rank 10 for the entire galaxy we did have fun taking on larger alliances than ourselves and winning each time.  In the end had quite a bit of fun this galaxy, and ended with about 800 kills for my meager fleet.

My first attempt at playing two galaxies at once.  Seemed to work out ok, although I did keep forgetting when building queues were ending in this galaxy as G92 was a bit more interesting.  Playing Ji again with the express attempt at testing out a starting strategy that included all mega planest for the first time.  Seemed to work out much better than I had thought (but still need to build all megas earlier than the 12th planet).  As my allies were only active sporatically I was both leader and general of this galaxy for the entire lenght.  As a result I picked targets that while would be challenging, there was little doubt that we would emerge victorious as long as I did not make any major mistakes.  As a result we basically rolled over every alliance we fought with little resistance.  And whatever resistance was offered was eliminated within 1.5 days of the start of the war.  Overall nothing new learned, but I did get to give Mikai his first ever survival, which makes it worth it.

I determined I was getting too comfortable with the Ji race and needed more of a challenge.  Therefore tried Oomari instead, one of the more challenging races overall.  I also allied with someone I've been fighting the past two galaxies, we got along fine but to be honest I wasn't too impressed with KAE.  A fine player, but not much of a general overall.  As it was we never encountered much difficulty in our battles and had a fairly easy galaxy overall.  While we weren't the number one alliance we we fairly high ranked an not much of note really happened for us.  Except for the fact that the last 5 days of the galaxy had us fighting two different alliances at the same time, both in the top 5.  One would have been a major challenge, but two was impossible to deal with and as a result we dropped a bit in rank before the end of the galaxy.

I can't say that this was the most challenging galaxy I've played, as we rolled over all opposition with little to no battle plan.  As one can guess we were the number one alliance, no small feat considering we were without an Oomari member.  Regardless for the vast majority of the galaxy we were number one and only lost the position in the last 24 hours due to another alliance gaining a large amount of Battle Points (they barely edged us out in the end).  This galaxy shored up my confidence in the Oomari-less battles against other alliances with Oomari members.  We won several such wars, but since we completely overpowered all opponents I can't say if it was skill or pure brute strength.  Either way I did enjoy playing with the Sirnef unique and gainin the most techs for the galaxy, my goal from the very beginning.  I have decided this is the last galaxy in which I will play two at once.  I have found I don't really have the time for such and have ended up playing both only halfhearted.  I will from now on play only one galaxy, switching back and forth between my two accounts.
