| NCBL Newsletter #1, May 8th 2003 We are finally less than a week away from the beginning of a new NCBLseason. You may now begin to pray for it to only rain on Saturdays as once again the NCBL will be busy pretty much every night of the week other than Saturdays. The much anticipated schedules are now posted on the website, each team manager/rep does have a copy....please remember to not solely use the website for your schedule reference, as it may not reflect changes. In other words, DO NOT use the website when in doubt...the website schedules are NOT official. I`d like to thank the Tier presidents for their hard work in making the schedules as they all had a short time frame to make them and many requests to accommodate as best they could. Speaking of the website, there are plenty of players still looking for teams posted. Teams have no excuse for defaults or player shortages later in the year as there looks be many players without a team. Teams are reminded that they MUST submit their rosters BEFORE their first game, failure to do so may result in a forfeit. All teams know this and know how they can get rosters to me. Once again all rosters will be posted on the website. The deadline to make changes is once again June 30th at midnight. Roster limit is once again 20 players. The league constitution is also still posted, unfortunately two changes that were made at the March 31st meeting have not been reflected yet, but each team rep does know the changes. Full details on what team responsibilities entail are also posted in the "team duties" link. Players are reminded that there is a new rain procedure, and that we will no longer use the league answering machine for this purpose. To know what to do in the case of a wet day, please see the link. The website will not be the rain out messenger either as it won?t state the status of any game until late at night. The website will be run as like other years with the same assortment of stats, boxscores, team game logs, leaderboards, scoreboards, up-to-date standings...etc.. Due to my new work hours, scores and standings will be up-to-date when you wake up each morning. In case you haven`t noticed, to give team sponsors some more exposure, I just added a little sponsor heading on the home page, "Today`s Sponsor" will rotate through all team sponsors day by day. The full current sponsor list can be found in the sponsor link. If you would like your team sponsor added to the rotation, just email me with the info, or if the current info I have is wrong, again please email me. There is also a new email I`m using for stats, it is [email protected], most of the team`s stat guys have emailed me already, but if you are your teams stat guy, contact me through that email for the latest version of the stat program, or to just let me know that you are your teams stat guy. The newest 2003 website experiment will be a "performance of the week" award for each tier in the weekly newsletter. (instead of power rankings) I will simply pick the player who had the best game that week from each tier and announce it on the newsletter and post on the website. For this I`ll need nominations each week, since I can`t see every game. Anyone can nominate anyone, all you need to do is email me the info(who, when, stats, why) before midnight Sundays for the week just ended (monday-sunday)...teams can nominate more than one player if they wish but it`s for single game performances. If I don`t get at least half the teams in the tier represented, I won`t award it that week for that tier. Basically, I`ll pick the player who had the best individual game that week for each tier. Hopefully, all teams can participate. The league message board is currently out of commission, we are sort of working on getting it up and running again, but with low priority as it`s usually more of a headache than anything, and I can`t be bothered at the moment. I can`t finish this off without my annual reminder to respect the umpires and that umpire abuse is NOT acceptable and that team managers/reps are responsible for their players actions, but at the same time you are responsible for your own actions and hopefully no incidents will develop this year as everyone in the N.C.B.L just wants to play the great GAME of baseball. Finally, if you have any questions for me, the tier presidents, commissioner...etc., feel free to call us or email us. You can find the league executive on the "league info" link. As for me, I have horrible work hours at the moment. You can call me at home any time before 1, or my cell from 1-10...unfortunately I most likely won`t answer between 1-10 due to work....emailing is the best way to contact me. If urgent, you can find my work email and work phone at the league info link. Good Luck to all teams in 2003, Joe Beelen |
