Poetry...

1.
His painting of me
Still hangs there proudly.
It had my breasts and hair,
But that was all.

2.
There is a gap
in the fence
that tortures me,
as though the space were left
so I would wait
for the silver of your car.

3.
In the early hour of death
When your body gives way to time
Limp and useless,
You will meet your mind
As if for the first time.

No longer will you be able to threaten with fists.
You will face a different kind of fight.

And your last wish will be that you wished you had loved,
That you had let your mind expand so that the world could finds it’s way in.

In the absence of your body,
you will be lonely.
Your dull mind will offer no solace and you will pay for your ignorance.
When you ask yourself questions,
Your mind will reply with the silence that comes with –
not stupidity but worse,
The choice you made a long time ago
To resign to life’s weaknesses.

And at last
In the vast darkness of the end,
You will see that you are completely alone,
no weapons,
in the battle of the soul –
The unrelenting appetite
of death.

4.
There are many others like you
Who don’t know what to do,
And so they play music loud.
It is a kind of exorcism –
Clears out the shit from the day.

They will complain.
They will call the police.
Don’t bother trying to explain.
They don’t speak your language.
When they leave,
turn it up.
It’s all you can do.
