Excerpts from plays:
"Taking Note" (2004)
Jack:
One time, when I asked a guy for 80 cents, he said he didn't have any change.
He asked me if I was honest. I told him: "Sometimes". He laughed at
that, then he said: "Good answer, now, can you go to the newsagents across
the road and get change for a fifty?" So I went. I could have made a run
for it, could have even walked away slowly with a fifty in my hand, he wasn't
even watchin. But I got change and I came back. He gave me twenty bucks. Knew
he would. Honesty pays sometimes.
Amy:
I remember, when I was in primary school, we had these classes on safety. The
teacher told us: "If you ever get that feeling, like butterflies in your
belly, you know you're in danger, so get away from the situation." I love
that feeling. Whenever I get it, I know something special's happening.
Keith:
I get this distant view of myself. I am a man in a suit, sitting in a park,
drunk.

"Positive" (2002)
Mel: Have you told Michael?
Laura: Yes. He says I'm probably not. . . we've been pretty careful.
Mel: How careful?
Laura: Well. . . we could be more careful. . . It's hard, in the moment. In the moment, I could do anything. It's like my body's crying out: "fertilize me!"
