Frequently Asked Questions About Our Group
Q:
What is the affiliation
between Sigma Delta Gamma and Tri-Ess?
A:
Sigma Delta Gamma is the Sacramento chapter of Tri-Ess
International Inc.
Q:
What is Tri-Ess International Inc?
A:
Tri-Ess (The Society for the Second Self) is an
educational, social and support group specifically for
heterosexual crossdressers, their spouses or partners,
and their families. We support both crossdressers and
their significant others. We believe that God has
blessed us with an additional facet to our
personalities. We feel that we should accept our
crossdressing side, but stay within the boundaries of
good family values.
Tri-Ess is an
educational, social and support group for heterosexual
crossdressers, their partners, the spouses of married
crossdressers and their families. We believe that we are
blessed with an additional facet to our personalities.
If we accept our crossgendered side, and explore it, we
will find a broadening of the entire personality, which
can be very fulfilling. We dress in emulation, rather
than in mockery, of femininity. The Tri-Ess philosophy
can be expressed in the acronym FIBER:
-
F - Full personality expression in both its
masculine and its feminine aspects. We do not wish
to destroy our masculinity, but to soften its
harsher aspects, and be all we can be.
-
I - Integration of masculinity and femininity
to create a happier whole person.
-
B - Balance between masculinity and
femininity.
-
E - Education or crossdressers and their
families toward self-acceptance; education of
society toward accepting crossdressing people.
-
R
- Relationship-building in the context of
crossdressing.

Q:
I have concerns regarding my personal
security. How is my anonymity assured?
A:
Please refer to our
Privacy Statement
for comprehensive details on all that we do, and all
that we recommend you do, to ensure your privacy and
security.
Q:
Do you charge for membership?
A:
Yes. We have an annual membership fee which is currently
$72 for an individual and $92 for a couple. This covers
full membership to Tri-Ess International for one year,
also full membership to the Sacramento chapter, Sigma
Delta Gamma, also for one year. These costs go toward
the running of the group, plus you will receive a free
quarterly magazine from the Tri-Ess International
organization called The
Mirror. Partners will receive a newsletter just
for them called The
Sweetheart Connection. Both of these are designed
to give support, encouragement, education and news to
Tri-Ess members. We do not collect any meeting fees from
attending members. However, many of our socials do take place in
a restaurant where most people have dinner. You will be
expected to pay for your meal and any drinks you may
have had during the course of the evening.
Q:
I am interested, but I don't have the
resources or ability to adequately "pass" in public. Do I have
to attend socials dressed as a woman?
A:
No, but most of our members like to take the opportunity
to be dressed and "out" at our socials. However, there
is nothing that says you must come dressed as a woman.
There is also no need to feel that your ability to
"pass" has any bearing on your acceptance into Sigma
Delta Gamma. Our members vary greatly in their abilities
and resources to look convincing.
Q:
What can I expect if I come to a social?
A:

activities,

Q:
Do you provide counseling?
A:
No. Only peer-to-peer. We have no professional
counselors. However, some of our members may go to
professionals and will be happy to refer you.
Q:
Will I be approached by someone looking
for sex or interested in dating transgender people?
A:
Our socials are held in LGBT restaurants, but those
people who are interested in meeting or dating
crossdressers or other transgender people are unwelcome.
Nothing of a sexual nature is permitted at any social or
event. Our socials are always "family friendly."
Q:
Is this group open to everyone from the
Transgender community?
A:
No. Our group is a "closed group" specifically intended
to meet the needs of male to female, heterosexual,
crossdressers who have no intention to become
transsexual women or enter into sex reassignment
surgery. If you fall into a different category than
this, then our group is not for you. However, there may
be other organizations that would better meet your needs
better than ours. Perhaps we can suggest another local
organization that might offer you a better support
group.
Q:
I am a teen. May I join and attend Sigma
Delta Gamma socials?
A:
Unfortunately, no you may not join if you are under the
age of 18. However, your parents may join and bring you
to our meetings. Our membership does include parents of
crossdressers.
