A Tape of Baby Let's Play House has been sold to EMI 20 July Paul is invited to join The Quarrymen 7 August The Quarrymen perform at the Cavern Club for the first time in Liverpool 18 October Paul's debut performance with The Quarrymen, at the New Clubmore Hall, Liverpool. The group now consists of: John, Paul, George and Ken Brown but they still have no drummer 10 October Ken Brown quits the Quarry Men 15 November As Johnny and The Moondogs, John, Paul and George make the final audition for Carroll Levis' TV Star Search at the Liverpool Empire Theatre 1960 - - Years Roll Along - January Stuart Sutcliffe, friend of John Lennon at Art College joins The Quarry Men as the bass player as urged by John - May The Quarry Men become The Beatals 10 May The Beatals become The Silever Beetles and audition as a backing group for Billy Fury, but are booked to tour Scotland as backing for Johnny Gentle instead 20-28 May The Silver Beetles tour Scotland. The group have also given themselves stage names: 'Long John' Lennon, Paul Ramon, Carl Harrison, Stu De Stael , Tommy Moore (no change) on drums - June The Silver Beetles become The Beatles before reverting to The Silver Beetles - July The Silver Beatles become The Silver Beatles - August Paul McCartney phones Pete Best asking him if he was interested in joining the band. Pete discussed the situation with his fellow Blackjacks (his current band) who happily agreed that Pete should take up his place with the Silver Beatles. 12 August Pete Best joins the Silver Beatles as the drummer 16 August The group finally become The Beatles 17 August to 3 October The Beatles play at the Indra Club on Hamburg's Grosse Freiheit may have recorded the following at the Indra Club: Hallelujah, I Love Her So, You'll Be Mine, Cayenne, I Don't Know, I Don't Need No Cigarette Boy, I Will Always Be In Love With You, I'll Follow The Sun, World Is Waiting For The Sunrise, You Must Write Every Day 15 October Fever - John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison performed as a backing group for Lu Walters of Rory Storm and the Hurricanes, at the Akustic Studio. Ringo Starr, also of the Hurricanes, substituted for Pete Best as drummer during this session. This is the first session to include all four Beatles together. However, for this track, Ringo played drums without John, Paul or George. No copies of this recording have surfaced. 1961 9 February Perform for the first time at The Cavern Club, for a lunchtime session 21 March Perform for the first time in an evening session at The Cavern Club 27 27 March to 2 July Make their second trip to Hamburg and play at the Top Ten Club on the Reeperbahn 22-23 June Play in a professional recording studio for the first time, backing singer Tony Sheridan and recorded My Bonnie. They also performed the following on their own: Ain't She Sweet, Cry For A Shadow and possibly: Some Other Guy 9 November Brian Epstein visits The Cavern Club at lunchtime to see the Beatles performing 3 December Attend their first business meeting with Brian Epstein at his record store 6 December Brian Epstein offers to manage the group and John accepts on their behalf 9 December Play their first concert down south at the Palais Ballroom, Aldershot, but it is not advertised so only 18 people turn up 13 December A&R man Mike Smith of Decca Records comes to see the Beatles play at The Cavern Club |

He is temporarily replaced by session drummer Jimmy Nicol 4 June The World tour begins with a concert in Copenhagen, Denmark 7 June Land in London to dropp off Cynthia Lennon and collected John's Aunt Mimi, the 10:15 BOAC Boeing 707 flight to Hong Kong was delayed 1 hour to allow the group to make their connection. The plane touched down in Beirut, Lebanon that evening, exhausted, the Beatles ruled out a terminal building. The scene got ugly when Police had to use fire fighting foam on hundreds of screaming teenagers who invaded the tarmac as fans hurled themselves at a wall of Police who where guarding the plane's on-ramps 8 June Second refuel stop, 2.00AM arrive in Karachi, Pakistan. Paul decided to buy some souvenirs but was quickly turn back to the aircraft by a mob of screaming girls - Paul claims that they materialized From Nowhere. 6AM Stop off in Calcutta, West Bengal, India. Bangkok, Thailand (later that morning) The Beatles met similar scene's as in Beirut - but this time they decided to go down the ramp and sign Autographs after almost a thousand fans mostly in school uniform chanted "Beatles Come Out". Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album is shot by Michael Cooper April 19 A legal buisness partnership, The Beatles & Co., is formed to bind the group together until 1977 20 The first reording session for Magical Mystary Tour is held at EMI studios May 15 While afftnding a performance by Georgie Fame at the Bag O' Nails club in London, Paul meets photographer Linda Eastman (curses....) 19 Brian Epstine holds a lunch party for Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearths Club Band at his home in London 20 The BBC imopses a radio and TV ban on 'A Day In The Life' because of the song's overt drug refrences 26 The LP Sgt.
