SCA members create a persona that might have lived somewhere in Europe before 1600. They cannot choose to be a real person. Sorry, no Robin of Locksley or Richard the Lionheart. This is in contrast to the American Civil War reenactors that are recreating a real person. For combat, this means the outcome of SCA battles is not predetermined the way Civil War reenactments are.
The officer in charge of combat and martial activities is the Marshal. This officer helps research weapons, armor, and fighting styles, and enforces safety requirements. This means inspecting weapons and armor before any combat, even practice. If you are interested in fighting, contact Lord Jawhar at [email protected] or join us at fighter practice.
