Ship 1000 is part of the Grey Owl District of the Circle Ten Council of the Boy Scouts of America National Council. Sea Scouts is part of the Venturing program within the Boy Scouts of America.  (Follow that?!)

Within the Boy Scouts of America, three of the main programs are: Cub Scouts (1st - 5th grades), Boy Scouts (6th grade - age 17), and Venturing (high-adventure programs for youth [both genders] ages 14 through 20).

The Venturing program is a co-ed branch of the BSA for youth ages 14 through 20 which provides positive experiences to help young people prepare for life as responsible adults.

Within the Venturing program is a specialized program called Sea Scouts, originally organized to develop boating skills and to promote knowledge of our maritime heritage.

The BSA is organized into Local Councils by geographic region.  We are part of the Circle Ten Council.

Within each Local Council are many districts, which help organize neighborhood scouting units.  Ship 1000 is part of the Grey Owl District, which serves Sachse, Garland, Rowlett, and Rockwall.
