| * What is Sea Scouts? Sea Scouts is part of the Venturing program of the Boy Scouts of America. * What is Ship 1000? Much like boy or girl scout "troops," "ships" are the units in Sea Scouts. Ship 1000 is a Sea Scouts ship in the Gray Owl District of the Circle Ten Council of the Boy Scouts of America. * What, exactly, does Ship 1000 do? Two Sundays a month, we meet at Lake Ray Hubbard. Members learn to sail, practice sailing, captain sailboats, teach others how to sail, and host interested boy and girl scout troops in sailing and camping weekends. We also maintain our boats, and - with an experienced membership - take high-adventure trips to open ocean sailing spots. * What kind of equipment does Ship 1000 have? We hold five donated boats ranging in length from 19-25 feet. * About Our Charter Organization: Our Charter Organization is Inland Sailing, located at Captain's Cove Marina on Lake Ray Hubbard. If you are interested in advancing to a leadership position, our leaders can guide you to do that. If you just want to come out and have fun, that's great, too! * Who can participate?
