D/P Gym GuideThis is a short guide which explains about the gyms of the Pokémon games Diamond and Pearl. Just like the previous games, there are 8 gyms, all focusing on a different type.Oreburgh Gym: Leader: Roark Pokémon: The Oreburgh Gym. This one focuses on the rock type. When you first come in Oreburgh City, the Gym is closed, because you need to go to the Oreburgh Mine to get Roark, the Leader. This Gym is easy with Turtwig and Piplup, but hard with Chimchar. If you chose Turtwig, be sure that it is at lv. 13, because it learns Razor Leaf then, and with Razor Leaf it's a piece of cake. If you chose Chimchar, this will be a hard one, because Chimchar only has attacks that are weak to Rock. In that case you need to find some other Pokémon to help. On the way to Oreburgh you can catch the following Pokémon which are strong to Rock: Budew, Machop and Psyduck. If you chose Piplup, it won't be too hard. It learns Bubble at lv. 8, so by the time you arrive there you should have that move already. But I suggest that you have it at least at lv. 12, and some other Pokémon as a back up. For all starters goes the same: Watch out for Cranidos. Eterna Gym: Leader: Gardenia The Eterna Gym. This one focuses on the Grass type. You shouldn't have too much troubles with this one. The way to the Gym leader is harder then the battle itself. If you have a Starly, which is probably evolved into Staravia, use it, it will come in handy. If you chose Piplup, better not use it, Turtwig is ok cause it's strong against Grass, and you should definitely use Chimchar if you chose it. Try not to use any heavy pokémon, cause Roserade's attack Grass Knot is more effective against heavy pokémon. |
