After her first mission to Zebus, Samus Aran receives a destress call from a space station orbiting Tallon IV. She lands on the space station and searches for any clues for who sent the distress signal. On her travels through the space station, she stumbles upon the menacing Parasite Queen. She beats the creature and hears a self destruct sequence start, this was set off by the Parasite Queen. She decides to run and while doing this, see's Meta Ridley fly out of the space station. Samus continues to run, but gets hurt by an lectrical blast, making her lose her powers. Samus eventually manages to get out of the space station and see's Meta Ridley fly towards Tallon IV. She jumps into her ship and follows Ridley to the planet surface. This is where Metroid Prime sets its scene.
