what's going to happen. I have now seen 'Ringu' but when I started
this thing, I was totally clueless. I like the way Duo is portrayed..
how it's written, how.. Okay, I like everything. I love horror and
admire authors who make me feel scared. The way Heero and Duo acts
together is cool and I want to see how they are going to get together.
I'm also very curious about how much it is going to follow the movies
and the books. Is it going to end like 'Ringu'? Maybe I should also
add that 'Ringu' is one of the best movies I've ever seen. *grin* |

I've fallen for this
fic. Badly. I began with the TV-series for some reason I can't really
remember but when I found how good it was, I went back and read
'The Beginning' too. The langue in this story is beautiful and the
story interesting and unusual. That's one of the things I like about
Jei, nothing is ever clicheéd or too cheesy. The stories
are moving nicely, angsty sometimes and sometimes funny. (See Interludes).
The relationship between Duo and Heero is beautiful, just like in
MoH, and I've come to love Wufei's and Meiran's almost as much.
They are so angsty together. (I'm mostly thinking about
The Movie). Anyway, this is a nice and unusual AU fiction. Man,
and I do so feel like I'm advertising for something right now.

This is a nice example
of what makes me absolutely love a fan fiction. Slowly developing
relationships, actual conversations between the main character
before they have sex (and trust me, that is one thing becoming rare
these days) + random cuteness all over. Jei has once again managed
to write a Heero I absolutely love and adore and the Grumpy Bear
is hilarious and cute. (Read the fic and you'll understand.) This
fic was written for Nitid's AU novella challenge. |

It amazes me how
long it took me before I finally decided to read this story. I think
it was because I disliked the first part back then (though I like
it now). I love how Heero is written in this story and how he relaxes
more and more through the series, in a totally adorable way. The
relationship between Duo and him is also very cute and as Jei says:
'healthy'. There's a strong bond between them, not just mere 'lust',
and I have sighed dreamily more than once while reading this. Maybe
I should also add that I was very nervous about . . . RL stuff when
I read the first half of the fic and when I finally *had* to go
to bed, I wasn't worried or nervous at all. I was too wrapped up
in a cozy feeling that only good 1+2 fluff can ever give me. I'll
have to thank Jei for making me feel better. What also got me hooked
was Jei's style of writing is. . . just everything. It is amusing
when it needs to be, romantic when it needs to be, angsty when it
needs to be and fluffy when it needs to be. And together, it makes
a perfect mix I'll love for the rest of my life ~_^ Yes, I know
that sounds cheesy, but it's true!

You know, there are some fics
you read and BAM! you know you love it and always will. Then, there
are fics you read, don't like at first but somewhere along in the
adventures, you fall into each character's personality and the authors
way of describing things and you get stuck before you've realized
it youself. Then there are those fics that you read, and think 'Very
Nice' and then goes away to read something else. But every day,
or night after that, you'll suddenly remember that certain story
and think about it with special fondness. It might take weeks, or
months before you realize that the story sucked you in, without
you realizing it and I think that those stories are some of the
best. The idea of that certain story was something that made you
remember in the middle of the hasty internet world that is the GW
fandom. And Karen's 'Fishing on the Moon' is exactly like that.
And honestly, who can't love the cuteness the Trowa/Duo
friendship always bring? |

Do I have to spell it again? I love what Karen has done with the
pilots and the other characters, Duo's, Quatre's and Wufei's relationship
is wonderful and touching! (makes me feel all cozy inside) The fact
that this story is written in Quatre's POV scared me away for a
long time (he's not exactly my fave pilot), but don't make the same
mistake as I did! Quate's is really sarcastic in this story and
it is amusing to read. The love triangle between Heero, Duo and
Relena was very interesting to read! There is a perfect amount of
angst in this, enough to make you want to cry, but not enough to
be boring, something that is a great plus too. |

I guess that
in a way, you can thank Katsu-dono for that this site was ever made,
since this was the story that hauled me into the GW, 1x2 and yaoi
fandom. I stumbled upon this story and read it even before I knew
anything about Gundam Wing (more than the mobile suit part, will
say) and it kept me interested. This is also the story that made
me a hardcore 1x2, Duo fan, heck, even shounen ai-fan! It is really
a great fan fiction, and Duo's POV is wonderfully written, in an
IC way. He's sarcastic, fun and overall a great guy. Katsu's way
of writing the characters is the best! |

Awww, this story

I think that would describe this story enough, but I'll write more
for the sake of it. Take Duo's and Heero's relationship for example.
They are friends, but not lovers when the story starts and their
relationship grows into more and more as the story develop. And
seeing Duo with the youngsters makes me want to have him as father.

make it better at all. (Though maybe I should add that this story
does not end with death or anything like that. It is just sad, but

This has to be the strangest
pairing in a fic that I'll ever rec! Still I'm amazed of how great
it seems to work! Do not run away because of the pairing , you'll
miss a wonderful read! Dorothy and Zechs are written in a cool way
that I totally like. I love Dorothy but it's hard to find fics where
I actually like how she is written, so it is certainly a plus in
this fic. And yes, there's a reason to why I didn't put romance
as one of the categories, since the amount of romance is very low.
This story is only about how they befriend each other, though in
the sequel, there seem to be more romantic themes. |

I read the first part when it
was posted on Kracken's ml and instantly fell in love with the series,
even though I hadn't read the following parts yet. I decided to
wait and see if it continued being this good before rec-ing it,
but finally had to rec it though only eleven parts are out yet.
A dark Shinigami tale is a great way of describing it all, in my
opinion. The characterizations are wonderful and the story reminds
me of what I wanted to write when I started Rituals, but obviously,
I wasn't as sucessful as Kracken. Duo is great in this story, not
the annoying, never-stop-talking fool people always write
him as. (Not that I really hate him like that, but come on guys,
you know he doesn't act like that in the series.) He is
serious, dedicated to his cause and still manage to keep a personality.
I love you Kracken. *worships her* Another thing worth mentioning
is the relationship between Duo and Heero. After I began reading
more and more alternate pairings, this was a lovely little oasis
of 1x2ness. (It is, and will always be, my favourite pairing after
all.) How can two good gundam pilots be so sweetly awkward together?
That adorable sweet awkwardness that makes the reader swoon? And
still manage not to be too cheesy? |

How come it took me so long to
read this wonderful series? Don't ask me because I don't have an
answer. The way Duo struggles to love and trust even though his
own heart has a hard time doing it is heartbreaking and sad. The
stories, as well as the characters are written in an original way
that took me a while to enjoy because they were so unusual, but
when I finally did, I totally fell in love with the series. But
I still feel that the first series was best out of them all, even
though the second and third arcs are good too. |

with it! I can freely say that Kracken has to be one of my favourite
writers ever, because I really, really love all of her stories,
even those that aren't about Gundam Wing. If this hadn't been a
Gundam Wing site, then I would probably also rec Kracken's FAKE-fic
'After the Manga Arc' because it made me fall
in love with Ryo and Dee. (I had never even *seen* FAKE for godness
sake!) *realizes she has to say something about this story as well*

I thought this fic was really,
really scary, and not to say sad. *sniff*. I should have put up
more warnings and categories, but the mild confusion in the beginning
is part of the fun and I didn't want to spoil it. This reminded
me of a movie I saw with school once, a Swedish one. Not at all
in the story-line, happenings or so, it's just the parts with Duo
talking to 'insert person after having read
the fic' that made me feel exactly like when
I saw the movie. The story is so original that I couldn't get it
out of my head, and even after coming over the unusual parts, I
still couldn't forget about it. My solution - rec it! This was really
a nice story, and very well written. And. . . scary, and heart-breaking.

that this is an exception. The Heero angst is darn heavy in Rye
and a certain chapter (fourteen, mind you) made me just stare at

- protect him from reality. But do not, by any means, get me wrong.

Whoa. Just . . . whoa. (In a
good way, of course.) You know what always amazes me in this fandom?
It is the fact that always when you feel that 'oh god, I've read
everything that's worthy to read - why can't anyone write anything
good for a change. ?' then you'll suddenly find something nice by
an author you really like. I hadn't visited Loreena's site for a
long time since she moved on from the GW fandom, but then I realized
I never really read everything by her. (I am not a very great fan
on 3+4, so there you got a reason.) Anyway, I realized that though
I still prefer fictions with Duo in it, I can still like fictions
without him as a main character.. Duo's the side-kick in here, but
such an adorable sidekick he is. ^_^ And he *does* get a lot of
screen time, though not as much or Trowa. And to change subject
away from Duo; Loreena is one of very few authors that make me enjoy
the 3+4 pairing.. |

is a wonderful fic! Lorena has such a great sense of humor and I
laughed my way through it. One of the only fics I like where a pairing
with Duo isn't in focus. Also, make sure that you check out the
fanarts for this arc! ^_^
It's too bad that Lorena has now left the fandom. *sigh*
Note: You shouldn't eat anything while reading, since the risk of
choking to death on it while laughing is too big. I'd also recommend

nothing is taken for granted is also likeable together with the
other guys cluelessness (excuse a poor Swedish girl's grammar, but
is that a word, really?) and it makes a lovely story. |

is a possibility when the author and story is good. I also think
this is the story that opened my eyes to see Lady Une in a brighter
light. Wufei is very cute in this fic, especially when he is stressed
and worried about Duo, and our favourite braid boy is completely
adorable. When the angst feels heavy, there's always a well-placed
moment of fluff or sap. Mel and Christy can always give you a good
cry as well as laugh, in the same story and somehow, their writing
can always cause the most funny mental images. |
