A Union of Love � 2000-2001

I suppose everyone has a story. Here's my story ... Years ago Lonnie and I worked together. Yeah, I thought he was cute [whew! he's even cuter now with his gray hair], but since I was still in marital bliss with my first marriage, I really didn't pay much attention. When mutual friends gathered for a televised boxing match in October 1999, I joined them for the night's events. Lonnie was there, too. I don't remember paying any attention to him then either, but my good friend, Hellena, said I was flirting with him. I didn't see Lonnie again until late December when mutual friends and I gathered at a local night spot to celebrate my escape from the Herald and my new job. [ I'll admit it -- Lonnie was looking pretty handsome! ] It was there, when I least expected it, that things started with Lonnie and I. Had I known that our relationship would end like this, I sure would have flirted with him! After the first couple of dates, I knew Lonnie was "the one" I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. We seemed to have so much in common and the chemistry between us was wonderful. But there was one glitch [so Lonnie thought] - Lonnie was only here for his holiday break, then would return to Houston. I know he was hesitant to seriously date me because of the distance and he thought we'd be "just friends," but it has all worked out very nicely. Our friendship has grown into a beautiful love. |
