This says, "To Ken Cheers my friend Ian Gillan". Not bad eh? Got that at the Deep Purple backstage meet and greet in February of 2003. More of the same at this link.

My
connection to Jack the Ripper
What connection could I possibly
have to Jack the Ripper? It's simple, it was/is me! No, the vigilante
committee that was struck to try to find the killer was headed by a man
named Lusk. At one time I figured my dad's side (Lusk) came from Ireland
and my mom's side came from England. After a little research I'm not so
sure. There is a Lusk in England. The mystery continues here...
Roman Coliseum
Quite a building....quite a lot of blood. The coliseum then is like a
movie theatre or sports arena now. Quite normal in those days to watch
two men chop off each other's limbs - or how about a lion rip an unarmed
victim to shreds? Or how about Christians being burned alive - not nice
stuff, but neither is that mouldy cottage cheese in your 'fridge. Read
more here.

Nero's
Golden House
Not much of a military man, but Nero
sure knew what he wanted in a building. So massive was this project that
few projects then or since match it in context.
Already disliked by the army, not good, and the general poplace, also
not good, Nero anyway decided to spend huge resources to build a place
where he could live, as he said, like a normal human being.
His Golden House made use of the dome (see picture) for the first time.
It was so large he never actually visited every single room. Read
more here.
My pics with Bobby Orr
If you know anything about hockey, you should recognize this picture.
Even though this series was lopsided, this was the Orr goal that clinched
the series and won the Boston Bruins the Stanley Cup. I have a link to
these pics elsewhere, but I felt like adding another.
Check pics and story here.
My loose connection to Kirk
No, I have never met William Shatner.....but, I did meet an actor who
used to be in his Tek War show. Maurice Dean Wint, who played a cyborg
or something like that, came to Sudbury in 2002 for the annual Sudbury
filmfest. I had the chance to meet him and the rest of the cast and crew
of the film "it all happens incredibly fast".
The small-budget film also stars Trent McMullen, Shawn Lawrence
and Duane Murray. We have actually seen all these actors in various productions,
but because they are not hugely famous, we don't recognize their names.
Oh....I haven't seen this film yet.
