Bible Studies
Sunday Morning Study - Every Sunday morning at 9 a.m. we gather in the fellowship hall to study the New Testament. We go at our own pace, reading Scripture verse-by-verse, and then pick up where we left off during the following week's class.
Bible Breakfast - Every other Wednesday, we meet at Twin Pines Restaurant in Garrison at 9 a.m. where we order breakfast, and then have a Bible study while we wait for our orders. This is a very laid back group with a lot of discussion. Often the study develops into a chance to talk about topics and issues of faith that have been on people's minds.
LifeLight - For the serious Bible student! LifeLight meets at two different times, both on Thursdays each week. At 9:30 a.m. we meet at the church and at 6:30 p.m. we gather at the parsonage. LifeLight requires the student to work through a lesson during their own private study during the week, and then gather together as a group to talk about the material and discuss what answers we've come up with.
Fellowship
Monthly Fellowship Club - Every month a group of us get together on a Monday evening to do something together and get to know one another better. We've had game nights...made homemade pizzas...gone on a riverboat ride...had dinner at an area restaruant. Everyone is invited! Members...visitors...and friends alike should join us!
GALA (Getting A Life Again!) - This group is designed for those who are single or widowed and are determined to let life continue and give glory to God despite the hardships that have been endured in life. This group is active and vibrant and loves to have fun. Bowling and dancing are not out of the question!
Groups
LWML/Ladies Aid - This group is available to all women of the congregation and is a part of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League. Their goals are focused on the sharing of the Gospel and they carry out many events toward that goal. They meet on the second Tuesday of each month for Bible study and discussion, and they carry out events such as our yearly bazaar, brat sales, and quarterly luncheons with area churches. Come find out what LWML is all about!
Men's Club - If LWML is not for you, then Men's Club is probably a better option! This group also meets on the second Tuesday of the month, and they are also committed to the mission of the church and helping out with events that support the work of the congregation. Each year they host a spaghetti dinner and an ice cream social, along with helping out the ladies with the bazaar and a yearly smelt fry.
LYF (Lutheran Youth Fellowship) - The youth group of Shepherd of the Lake gets together each month to have fun and build a support system for each other as Christian peers. The youth group is dedicated to serving others in Christian love. This year many events are planned such as snow tubing, helping at a soup kitchen, going to the SonShine Festival, helping out with Vacation Bible School, and organizing our second ever "Fall Family Night" in October. This group is offered to kids in 6th through 12th grades.
