| Yup, that's me ==>. And yes ladies, I'm still single ;-) On this page you'll find a little bit about me, who I am, where I'm from, etc. I don't put up those pre-made questionaires. I want to decide what I write up myself. The pic is taken on my room by the way. The drawing on the right hand side of the picture is a signed print of the Magic: the Gathering card 'Starlight' by John Avon. A gift from him. Yay! |

| As you may or may not have seen on the main page, my name is Gert-Jan van Heugten, 20 years at the time of writing. I was born December 8th 1985 in Weert, a city in Limburg, the Netherlands, and currently live in Noord Brabant, a province in the south of the country. I study Chemical Engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology, about 18 kilometers (11 miles) from my place of living. Why Shauky? you may ask yourself. The name doesn't mean anything, nor is it the name of a great warrior or so (not yet, at least, you never know what I might be up to...). We were once in Egypt during the summer break, and the hotel staff there couldn't pronounce my name. I don't blame them on that, it's quite hard to pronounce for the non-Dutch-speaking. So they gave me an Egytptian name. Shauky (pronounciation: Show-key, but without the 'k' in Egyptian dialect). As you can see in the pic, I like (or should say liked) dinosaurs. Not that I don't like them anymore, just not a dino-freak anymore. But since my wallpaper has not yet crumbled to dust, I think it's a shame to replace it. I don't like replacing things that are still good in my opinion. I started Warhammer when sixth edition was just out. I bought the Orcs and Goblins army deal for my birthday in 2000 I believe, so that would mean I'm in the hobby for 5 years now. Didn't realize I was that old already... In 2004, when Tomb Kings were released, I decided on getting that army as well, since I like and always have liked ancient Egypt. Later that year, DeAgostini came with Battle Games in Middle Earth, a magazine that comes with Lord of the Rings miniatures from the Games Workshop range. And since I like LotR as well... I bought more boxes and my goal is to get each different LotR model at least once. A couple of years ago, in 2003, I started working as a voluntary moderator on the Games Workshop message boards, concentrating on the Warhammer forum, but I also look into other forums once in a while, LotR most of them. I was drawn into the world of fantasy because I befriended people in secondary school who played Magic: the Gathering. I still have loads of the cards, but I don't get to play it very often any more. From there we went to Warhammer, and now we also play Dungeons and Dragons. Unfortunately, we're all studying now, and all in different parts of the country, so we don't get together very often any more. That's about the most important (game-related) information about me, I guess. Any questions, feel free to e-mail them or write up something in my guestbook. Happy Gaming! -Gert-Jan 'Shauky' van Heugten. |
