Ships
In the General's Compendium, there's a whole part about Warhammer naval battles. Getting inspired by that, I wanted to make some ships of my own. And here's the result.
Front and back view of the ships. The decks are littered with extras such as skulls and spears.
Two ships with a crew of five on a ramming course for my paint pots.
The hulls of these ships are made from cardboard cups that held some fruit, berries, raspberries or strawberries most likely. They were plated with strips of 1 cm broad cardboard, and the same cardboard was used to cover up the edges (the metal plates). The mast and ram were made of wooden sticks, and the sail of thin cardboard (the kind you find at the back of a noteblock). The curving of the sails was made by giving the inside two layers of paint and the outside just one (and that's also the reason that the edges of the base curl up a bit. Still have to rectify that).
The crow's nest is all cardboard as well, and the telescope is Green Stuff wrapped around a piece of toothpick.
The hull was painted Scorched Brown, drybrushed with Bestial Brown and Vermin Brown. The metal parts are painted Boltgun Metal.
