| march is a busy time of year in japan. the school year is ending, an everyone is gearing up for the end of winter. the best part of march though, is spring break. for us junior high teachers, it's the last 2 weeks of march, and during that time, it's tough to find an AET still in the country. we left our travel plans until the absolute last minute this year, calling the travel agent 2 weeks before break, and asking where we could go with the money we had saved. her answer was 'bali', so off we went. most of the people we know who've gone to bali didn't have many nice things to say about it, but we were very pleased to find that with a little bit of effort, you can get away from the tacky tourist centers, and find a nice quiet beach town, just perfect for relaxation. we were only there 10 days, but it felt much longer- and in a good way. |
