Real-Time Enterprise Information Integration - Enterprise Architecture Modernization

The desire to refine and derive solid business intelligence (BI) for the ocean of raw data rapidly growing in today's enterprise is an ongoing challenge during customer relationship management (CRM). Data centric middleware and data warehouse production demands efficient and innovative solution to model, process, as well as optimize the raw data over distributed heterogeneous system software and fashion it into meaningful business metrics that guides present and future decision making privileged with greater level of granularity and predictability.

Data analysis task is viewed as the mining in a multidimensional space (MDS). Recent research efforts and approaches to systematically analyze data focus on prominent alterations within measures in MDS that is perceived as set of hypercube. Modern parallel computing models such as clustering, segmentation, and multithreading with the combination of high-end processors are identified to be the best for improving the throughput and sustaining the correctness of spatiotemporal data sets within the specified time bindings by means of advancing real-time capabilities and processing speed.

Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOSs) - Embedded System Software

System-on-chip (SoC) technology is the ability to place multiple function "systems" on a single silicon chip, cutting development cycle while increasing product functionality, performance and quality. Even if the semiconductor industry achieved increasing levels of integration, the success of this double integration processes and functions involves more capabilities than expected. Developing software and device drivers for the SoC solutions requires increasing levels of functionality in the face of shrinking time-to-market windows and the need to control costs. Today's increasing demand for achieving higher level of mission critical applications impose embedded systems vendors to utilize and integrate devices with RTOSs. RTOSs differs from OSs in terms of scheduling algorithms, priorities schemes, kernel modules, multi-threading, and multi-tasking features to provide more efficient as well as effective solution for embedded systems. Some of the popular RTOSs are VxWorks, QNX, Nucleus, OSE, RT-Linux Pro, MQX, and RTXC. Recently there has been significant effort to develop Embedded Linux OS such as MontaVista, BlueCat, TimeSys, and Windriver’s Linux suite due to the growing recognition of the open source platform/ standards.

Enterprise Networking Infrastructure - Network Devices and Protocols

Building heterogeneous enterprise-wide networks consisting of PCs, workstations and servers communicating via LANs and WANs is becoming mandatory for most organizations. Switches, routers, and gateways have emerged as the critical building blocks in the environment. IETF, ITU-T, and IEEE are the international standardization committees that actively supply network protocols to establish world wide consistency. Advances in IP is not hidden and gained momentum from past decade. Wireless networking standards are catching eyes of many industry giants resulted into WLAN 802.11*, GPRS, GSM, and UMTS protocols. MPLS, GMPLS, and VPLS are excellent illustration of growth in the telecommunication / internet arena.

Various networking equipments and devices vendors identify effectiveness of their solution depending on associate enterprise applications. High speed and reliability are the two major qualities offered by the enterprise switches, routers, and gateways. Many effort to establish Quality-of-Service (QoS) and Traffic Engineering (TE) standards are in place to recognize and improve performance of enterprise network.

Network processors (NPs) are the software programmable devices designed to incorporate network processing elements within semiconductor circuitry. Architecture of Network Processors is specific to the various value added network industry standards and protocols. There is no precise definition of NP or the functions it needs to perform. The reasons for the confusion are due to non-existing standards, non-specific functionalities and non-existing benchmarks.

Simulating Active and Real Time Database Systems (ARTDBS)

Strategies for changing priorities of events at run-time to increase predictability of an Active and Real-Time Database Systems. Evaluating the effectiveness of algorithms using simulation model and the parameters identified by the OBJECTIVE-benchmark of REACH.

Neural Networks

"Time series prediction using Neural Network" is utilized in the applications that deals with (or has dependencies on) time sensitive data such as signal processing and speech recognition. Multi-layer perceptron and back-propagation algorithms are widely used concepts within Neural Network research within past decade.
