Enterprise Architecture Frameworks –

GERAM

General Enterprise Reference Architecture and Methodology. GERAM is about those methods, models and tools which are needed to build and maintain the integrated enterprise, be it a part of an enterprise, a single enterprise or a network of enterprises (virtual enterprise or extended enterprise).

PERA

Purdue Enterprise Reference Architecture. PERA provides a structured approach to Enterprise Master Planning and implementation. Recommended planning documents, including timing and content are provided. PERA provides a life cycle model which clearly defines the roles and relationships among physical plant, people, and information systems.

CIMOSA

CIM Open System Architecture. CIMOSA is an ESPRIT supported pre-normative development which provides a framework based on the system life cycle concept together with a modeling language and definitions of a methodology and supporting technology.

CORBA

The CORBA architecture, or OMA, is an application-level architecture which focuses exclusively on issues affecting distributed object-oriented systems.

EAP

Steven Spewak's EAP methodology positions the four types of "architecture" in the sequence: Business Architecture, Data Architecture, Applications Architecture, and IT (or Technology) Architecture as the recommended sequence.

Zachman Framework

Zachman framework provides a view of the subjects and models needed to develop complete enterprise architecture. Supports the organization, access, integration, interpretation, development, management, and changing of a set of architectural representations of the organization's information systems.

FEAF

Federal Enterprise Architecture Framework promotes shared development for U.S. federal processes, interoperability, and sharing of information among U.S. federal agencies and other governmental entities.

NCR EAF

NCR-EAF is based on NCR's architecture practice Global Information Technology Planning (GITP), and NCR's architecture model Open Cooperative Computing Architecture (OCCA 6). The Framework was created to guide the development of systems, industry, and customer specific architectures.

ISO RM-ODP

ITU-T Rec. X.901 | ISO/IEC 10746-1 to ITU-T Rec. X.904 |
ISO/IEC 10746-4, commonly referred to as RM-ODP, provides a framework to support the development of standards that will support distributed processing in heterogeneous environments. It is based, as far as possible, on the use of formal description techniques for specification of the architecture.

TEAF

TEAF provides (1) guidance to Treasury bureaus concerning the development and evolution of information systems architecture; (2) a unifying concept, common principles, technologies, and standards for information systems; and (3) a template for the development of the enterprise architecture.

C4ISR

Command, Control, Computers, Communications (C4), Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR). It is a framework giving comprehensive architectural guidance for all of these related DoD domains, in order to ensure interoperable and cost effective military systems.

SPIRIT

Service Providers' Integrated Requirements for Information Technology (SPIRIT) Platform Blueprint is to produce a common, agreed set of specifications for a general-purpose computing platform. The objective is to provide a core set of specifications for use in each company's purchasing of software components for general-purpose computing platforms.

TOGAF

The Open Group Architectural Framework (TOGAF) is a detailed method and set of supporting resources for developing an Enterprise Architecture. Industry standard architecture framework that may be used freely by any organization wishing to develop information systems architecture for use within that organization.

Model Driven Architecture Tools – Open Source

MDA Open Source Project

Description

UMT - (UML Model Transformation Tool)

UMT is a freely available UML/XMI-based tool for model transformation and code generation purposes.

MTL Engine

A QVT-like implementation by the INRIA Triskell team Uses the MTL language. Integrates with Netbeans MDR and Eclipse EMF.

ATLAS Transformation Language (ATL)

QVT-like transformation language by the INRIA Atlas team. ATL aims to provide technology for the Eclipse GMT project through Eclipse ATL plugins.

ModFact

A MOF Repository and QVT-like engine from LIP6, Paris. Based on TRL language.

Generative Model Transformer (GMT)

An eclipse project that is providing/will provides model transformation technology for the eclipse platform. Currently the FUUT-je tool a code generator tool is the primary GMT deliverable. ATL will provide core technology for GMT project.

OpenMDX

An open source MDA environment which integrates with several tools through XMI and supports code generation towards several target platforms (J2EE .Net).

AndroMDA

An open source template based tool for J2EE code generation from UML/XMI. Uses VT (Velocity Template Engine) as scripting language and Netbeans MDR as a model API.

XDoclet

An open source attribute based code generation tool for J2EE.  Not really model-based but can be combined with generation tools such as UMT to achieve good model-based value.

Middlegen

An open source  database driven code generator based on JSBC  Velocity  Xdoclet and Ant.

OMELET

Eclipse project was originally part of the GMT project. Now it aims to provide a general framework for plugging in and integrating models, metamodels, and transformations.

Openmodel

MOF/JMI-based framework for MDA tools. Nothing much seems to happen in this project.
