That's right, we built a door. It's about time, really. Sandstorms, rain, cold, heat...our plastic flap was our door through all of it. Frankly, it's surprising it lasted that long. Now, though...now we're living in luxury with a door and wooden windows! |
| Here we see Luke and Jonah installing the doorhandles. Every door needs a doorhandle. Otherwise, the door would be a wall. There is a similar door handle on the outside of the door, too...but that goes without saying. | ![]() |

Prince did the hammering of the windows. I don't know if I can use the word 'window' to describe what we have. Windows are typically see-through, and ours are made of wood...the opaque kind. Back when we had cardboard windows, they doubled as emergency exits. I suppose we still could go out through the windows...it would just take a lot longer. |
| Here we see Jonah installing our door lock hasp. Funny how we didn't have any short nails (screws were actually mentioned as the best choice for the door...also absent), so we had to hammer the ends of the nails to face a better direction. We also used bolts cutters to cut the nails shorter. | ![]() |

Angel is measuring the wood...a very important step before cutting. A lot more planning went into the construction of the door and windows than went into the floor, but then again back when we made the floor we were out of plywood. |
| Harvey worked too, of course. He didn't just play photographer. He reorganized the tarps covering the shack. Hopefully NOW it's 100% waterproof. | ![]() |
