Griff's boat fell victim to the California wildfires. This is a picture of what the boat looks like now. Once a beautiful recreation vehicle, now a smoldering pile of ashes with an engine.
When I went to Doha, I forgot my cot back at Anaconda. The first night I slept on the floor, which wasn't too bad. Then I got issue a "loaner" cot from the base--this is what it looked like. That night I actually slept worse than when I slept on the floor. I never slept on that thing again.
This statue greets you upon arrival into babylon. In the lower right hand corner is a HMMWV, just like in ancient Babylon.
The gate into Babylon. I hear everything here is a replica of what it once was because not much of the actual stuff is left, and whatever is left is at museums.
The Babylon theatre isn't really all that big...but it's steep, so it goes up high. I wonder why they let military units move into these historic sites? Can you believe people actually live there? And there's also a PX at Babylon.
This sign is in Kuwait, near the Iraqi border. But then again, I tend to think that all of Kuwait is near the Iraqi border. You can drive across that county in about 2-3 hours.
Once in awhile, you'll see an M1 Abrahams tank doing something. In this case, it's blocking the freeway.
I don't know what city this is, but it's in Iraq. This is one of the many civilized areas we drove by from Doha to Anaconda.
