Jennie Estella and Luman Shackelton Family
Jennie Estella Shackelton was the oldest daughter and child of Charles Shackelton and Henrietta "Harriet" Elizabeth Kneeskern. Luman was the sixth child and the third son of Jacob Wintermute Shackelton and Ethalinda Gere. Jennie and Luman were cousins before they married. Luman was seventeen years old when he left Lawrenceville, Pennsylvania and moved to Decorah, Iowa to be with his uncle Charles Shackelton, Jennie's father. Luman worked as a butter-maker in a creamery, and at a race track, caring for the horses. Luman and Jennie left the farm that they owned in Iowa and moved to Minnesota in 1901. They lived here for 2 years and then sold and moved to Virginia. They left Virginia after 2 years and moved back to Minnesota until 1910 when they bought a farm and moved to West Branch, Missaukee County, Michigan. The farm is still owned by the Shackelton family to this day.
