Edna Della Shackelton Family

Edna Della Shackelton was the oldest child and daughter of Luman and Jennie Shackelton. She made many moves with her parents before finally settling in Missaukee County, Michigan. One of Edna's hobbies was family research and she contributed a lot of information to Bernice Close Shackelton and The Shackletons book. After her death her daughter, Delma updated the family information and still does today. After a house fire, most of the research was lost. Edna was my great grandmother, but she passed away just before I was born and I never had the privelage of knowing her, but I have been told that I would have really liked her, I guess everybody did, she had one of those personalities that everybody liked, including Bernice Shackelton. Bernice visited Edna while collecting her research for The Shackleton book and both of them really enjoyed the visit. Recently, I got interested in genealogy and started researching my family, which of course led me to The Shackleton book and its wealth of infomation. I made a trip back to Missaukee County and went around gathering information, so naturally I went to see Aunt Delma, the family expert and was more than delighted to spend some time with her talking about the family. Before I left, she gave me a copy of my great-grandmother, Edna's obituary (it was not available at the library) and said that she had that extra copy, so it must have been waiting for me, it even survived the house fire! Thank you Aunt Delma, for all your help and I just hope that these pages do my great grandmother's (and Bernice's) research justice.
