Doyle was my grandfather, actually he was the only father that I knew as my parents divorced when I was only 2 years old. I was always with my grandparents, to the point that some of my family will forget for a minute that I was his granddaughter and not his daughter and call him my dad. Every summer until I turned 12 years old my grandparents would take me "home" to Missaukee County and we would spend a couple weeks there, visiting family and being on the "ten acres." Those are the happiest memories that I have during my childhood. Doyle was retired but he could not sit still, he did small engine repair (basically lawn mowers) out of his garage. I would follow him around and eventually he taught me how to fix lawn mowers. Together we built one of my very own and I mowed many lawns with that thing! He would have some type of roll every morning with his coffe and of course, being the granddaughter I was, I would have to have one with him every chance I could get. My grandfather taught me many things, I could not even begin to tell you everything.
I miss my grandfather everyday.
