Circumstantial Evidence for Emmor being Hampton's son:
--Hampton has a son named Frank (census, 1860). A Frank and Emmor Shackelton are mentioned together in 1874 in Osage Mission Public School.

--Hampton's wife Sarah (census 1860, 1880, Illinois Marriage Index). In 1910, census shows Emmor's mother, Sarah, living with him in Galena. Stats for Sarah fit Sarah, wife of Hampton. In 1920 census, Emmor's mother is listed as Carrie, but the stats are the same for his mother Sarah in 1910 census.
--Hampton is said to have gone to Missouri and engaged in lead mining. Galena, Kansas, is 5 or less miles from the Missouri border and was founded as a lead mining town. In 1900, Emmore is working in the mines, although later he is in the grocery business. Hampton did work in coal mines in Illinois according to the 1880 census.
