May 29 - Lost to Flames D6P 4-2
This was a defensive game all the way with few really good chances from either team. Our defense played very well with Breanne, Kaitlin, Aly, Nicki, Sam and of course our keeper Serena having very strong games. Our mids and forwards all worked hard defensively with Shannon, Steph and Rebecca having good games but we did not have a lot of good opportunities to score tonight. The tie was a good result for both teams. Nicki was named player of the game.

May 26 - Won against Phoenix Blue D6P 3-1
We started slowly tonight after a long layoff but really picked up the intensity in the second half. Jenna scored two goals in the first half on long shots and one was a beautiful left footer over the keeper's head. Shannon had a great chance to score when she stole the ball from a defender and went in alone on the keeper but just shot over the net! After letting in a soft goal our defense really picked it up and limited our opponents to very few chances the rest of the game. Ruth, Shannon, Amy and Emily had strong games tonight. Our third goal was a great teamwork goal as Rochelle (or was it Jessica?) made a good play to keep the ball in bounds, passed to Lauryn who passed to Rebecca and into the back of their net! Emily was named player of the game. This win puts us in 1st place...check out the WYSA website!

May 17 - Won against Phoenix D6 Premier 2-0
A very close game that could have gone either way. We started slowly on this early game but hung on then got better as the game progressed. The first half was scoreless as both teams played a good defensive game and neither team had any good chances. Our best chance came from Rochelle, who was playing forward tonight and she stole the ball from a wandering Phoenix goalie and just couldn't put it home. We carried the play early on in the second half. We had a good chance on a corner kick from Nicki (who had her usual strong game) as Shannon just put the ball over the net. She also had a very strong game tonight. A nice play by Kaitlin led to our first goal as she intercepted a pass, passed wide to Lauryn who used her speed to beat the defender wide, crossed the ball in front to Breanne who scored. We had a few other good shots from Nicki who just missed on a couple of tries. Jenna who again played a good game scored late in the game as she intercepted a goal kick and scored off the post. Needless to say, our defence played a good game led by Serena our keeper. Alyson saved a goal as she cut off a forward who had a semi breakaway and played very well all night. Our mid field was effective with good efforts from Rebecca and Steph. Kaitlin was our player of the game tonight. The Blizzards were great!
