FIRST PLAYOFF GAME - Lost to Pheonix 2-0
A hard fought and entertaining game against an opponent who had beaten us 3 times this year. We played hard and it was easily our best game against them. Unfortunately they scored 2 goals that could have been offside and we didn't score any. Defensively we played well but unfortunately did not put a lot of pressure on their keeper. Our defense led by Breanne, Aly and Ruth was solid. Our mid field play was inspired with Nicki, Kaitlin and Shannon leading the way. A tie game would have been fairer outcome in this physical game.

SECOND PLAYOFF GAME - Tied with Blaze 1-1
What a game! This was one of our best games of the year. We deserved to win this game as we outplayed them for long stretches of play. I could name every player today as having an outstanding game. Our forwards Lauryn, Emily and Jenna came to play today and applied lots of pressure on the St. Vital defense. Serena had another good game. Our midfield played strong and also outplayed their opponents. Good games were had by Allison G, Jessica and Rochelle. Mia had her best game yet. The tying goal came late in the game as Jenna scored from passes from Emily and Kaitlin. This result kept our playoff hopes alive.

THIRD PLAYOFF GAME - Won against NW Wildcats 3-0
Again we played an outstanding game and dominated our opponent. Our first goal came on a nice pass from Lauryn to Emily to Maria who scored. Our second goal was early in the second half with Mia passing to Emily who sent a rocket shot into the top of the net. Our final goal came from a pretty play from Jenna to Mia to Jenna and into the net. This was another complete team effort as we limited NW to very few opportunities. Unfortunately, Serena was hurt in the second half with us leading 1-0 and Allison G came in and held the fort and made some nice saves. Steph played one of her best games as she was tenacious all game. Our defense of Breanne, Ruth, Sam and Nicki, Aly and Amy played very well.

FOURTH PLAYOFF GAME - Won against Blizzard 5-1
This was probably our most dominant game of the year. The score could have been higher aa we easily could have scored 10 or more goals today. Emily and Kaitlin missed 3 each in the first half alone! Allison G was again in goal as Serena is still injured. She made the saves when called upon and played with confidence. Three goals by Jenna ( one a header) and two by Lauryn who also had three assists where more than enough offense. The entire team played super with tremendous effort and "Intensity" against a team that we've had trouble with during the year...2 ties and 1 loss but we played big in this important playoff game. I even saw Shannon do a slide tackle!

We'll have to wait until Saturday to find out if we made it to the final. We need NW to tie or beat Bonivital and we're in the final. Not impossible but we need to keep our fingers crossed. We've played very well during these playoffs and we the coaches and I'm sure your parents are very proud of your efforts even if we don't make it to the final.

On a sadder note Serena may have torn her ACL in her knee and her doctor has suggested she not play soccer again if she wants to carry on in her attempt to make the national water polo team. We will definitely miss her as a quality person and as a quality and cool player. Hopefully she can make it out to share a Blizzard with us on Sunday and watch us play in the final on Oct 3rd.
