September 3rd - Lost to Pheonix 4-1
|
This team seems to bring out the worst in us. For the third straight time this year we played very poorly against them. We were missing some key players because of the long weekend and we were not up to the same intensity level as the previous game. Jenna scored our only goal on a nice pass from Kaitlin, who again had a strong game. Nicki, Alyson and Ruth also had good games and thanks to Rachelle Kirouac for playing goal for us. She played well despite the score. The playoffs are just around the corner and I'm sure we will be ready!

September 1st - Lost to Northwest D6P 3-2
|
A very entertaining game tonight. This was a rescheduled game against a very good and fit younger premier team. We had a very good first half but were down 2-1 on a couple of defensive miscues. Our lack of conditioning showed in the second half as they outplayed us but we showed some grit and never quit. Serena played very well in the second half and a late header goal by Lauryn promised Blizzards at a later date. Kaitlin, Nicki, Jenna and Sam had strong games as well.

PHOENIX TOURNAMENT
|
After a six week break and poor attendance at our practices we definitely did not look sharp but the good news is we improved and hopefully will be battle ready for the playoffs.
Lost to Phoenix 2-0
In a game played with lightning all around us both teams looked rusty and couldn't wait to get off the field. We had very few chances and looked nervous and out of shape. We welcome Riel back who has been away with injury for the whole year.
Lost to Blaze 2-0
This game looked like the previous one without the lightning. Enough said!
Lost to Inferno 3-1
This game was played in horrible conditions of wind, rain, cold and a sopping wet field. We played extremely well and outplayed our opponents badly but their keeper and bad luck beat us today! A much more inspired and intense level of play by us but the soccer gods were not smiling on us.
Won against Gateway 2-0
We again outplayed our opponent by a wide margin and came away with a much deserved win and the score should have been much higher. Jenna and Kaitlin scored for us and it was a solid team effort with nice passing and smart plays by everyone. Maria played her best game since returning to us and Rochelle and Jessica played well together.
