May 10 - Won against Portage Trail P6 4-2
|
WOW!!! The score certainly flattered our opponent as we dominated from start to finish. This is a team that had beaten us both times last year but we certainly took out some revenge. Our forwards Jenna, Lauryn and Emily were dangerous all night as Jenna had 2 goals hit 2 goal posts and missed 2 other breakaways. On top of that one of her goals was a header which is a "Blizzard" goal. In fact before the ball went in the net she headed twice and I know one or two players also headed it. Another goal was from a corner kick, and happened just like we have practiced it - Nicki back to Aly, back to Nicki, crossed in front, loose ball went back to Kaitlin, high in the slot and voila into the back of the net!! All our mids really had a great game as well and especially Ruth, Rebecca and Steph. Even though we allowed 2 goals our defence only allowed 5 or 6 shots as Kaitlin , Sam and Aly had strong games. As usual, Nicki was solid.

May 3 - Lost to SEU Premier Div 6 4-0
|
A loss in bitterly cold conditions! We lost to a very good team but we held our own. Serena played a great game and made many saves for us tonight. Our new players, Rebecca, Rochelle, and Jessica played well for their first game at this level. Despite the score our defence played well and it was good to see Breanne back as sweeper. We were only down 1-0 on a late goal and 3 goals in a 5 minute span in the second half on a few mental lapses pretty well sealed the loss. The forwards played well and had a few chances. We have some work to do but we like the efforts from everyone!
