June 21 - Won against Northwest 4-0
We carried our good play from Grand Forks into tonight's game. Our defense of Allison, Sam, Breanne, Nicki and Aly shut down their offense. Our mids of Jess, who had her best game, Kait, Amy, Shannon, Steph and Rebecca (two goals) completely dominated the midfield area and our forwards of Lauryn (2 goals), Jenna and Emily were dangerous all night. Our first goal was a nice shot from Lauryn on a back pass from Jenna to make it 1-0 at the half. We took over the game in the 2nd half with goals from Rebecca after a throw in from Amy to Nicki to Kaitlin to Rebecca, the third a pass from Amy to Nicki to Lauryn to Rebecca...goal. The fourth was a beauty, Sam up to Rebecca who carried up the field crossed to Lauryn who undressed their keeper and scored in the empty net. Players of the game were Sam ...with her brother watching and Rebecca with 2 goals. Many other players were worthy as it was a thorough team effort with lots of nice passing.

June 19 - Grand Forks Game #3 :: Won against Moorhead Rovers 4-2
The Rovers had tied the Hammers so we expected a tough game from them. We gave up 2 weak early goals but we never quit as we scored 3 of our own in the first half. Our first goal was on a good pass from Jennifer to Jenna who turned and blasted a goal. The second was on a great second effort from Lauryn to keep the ball in bounds to Emily who scored as Steph was driving to the net. The third goal was by Jenna on a pass from Lauryn. We controlled the second half and had many quality chances created from our midfield as Taylor, Jennifer, Amy, Steph, Kirstin, Ruth and Nicki were very effective. Finally we scored from Amy to Jenna to Lauryn as she was being tackled by their keeper. Amy played well on her first try at midfield as did Allison on defense. Our defense led by Breanne Sam, Aly and Ali completly shut down the Rovers in the second half. We failed to make the final of the tournament but we finished 2nd in our group. It was a good tournament as we generally played with lots of effort and heart.

June 19 - Grand Forks Game #2 :: Lost to Red River Hammers - 6-1 (ouch)
Uh oh, this was not our game. We started slowly against a very good and fast team. They scored first but we fought back to even the score on a shot from Jennifer. They scored with seconds to go in the half which seemed to deflate our spirits. We did not play well defensively and the Hammers scored four second half goals. We did get many opportunities set up by our midfield but few shots were dangerous. It was one of those games!
