Plasma has been widely used for vast range of applications. The implications of plasma for 21st century science and technology as well as for daily life are very profound. Perhaps we do not realize that fluorescent lamps that find widespread use in our home, there lurks a plasma. It is the plasma  that converts electrical power to a form that causes lamp's phosphor coating to produce the light we see. Figures shown below show a fluorescent lamp with part of the phosphor coating removed to reveal the blue plasma glow inside (left), and a flat-panel plasma display as a monitor to create the perfect boardroom (right).
