Sex and the Divine FeminineFrom our Core Beliefs: The Goddess gives us Life so that we may experience her Love and Power, and We raise Energy to affect our lives by drawing forth Her Love and Her Power with those closest to us. Sex rites are an important part of many traditions, and they are an even more important part of this Order's. All acts of consensual, responsible sex are sacred. The use of force or rape is the gravest offense towards the Goddess, and harkens back to the times when conquering invaders raped the Women of the conquered villages in an attempt to weaken the power of the Goddess. Any sex forced on an unwilling or unresponsible (i.e. not able to consent) Woman is a direct affront on the Goddess, and is punished in this life and the next. Love and Power and EnergyOur Energy to affect our lives comes from calling forth the Goddess' Love and Power. In this context, the relevant aspects of Her Love are: Sexual Love, Beauty, Joy, Pleasure, and Ecstasy. The relevant aspects of Her Power are: Attraction, Arousal, and Passion. When combined, these aspects indeed produce a great deal of Energy. Sex acts produce Energy in varying degrees. We include non-traditional or non-procreational sex (i.e. non-intercourse) as an important part of the sex acts we discuss. In fact, Attraction, Arousal, Passion, and Beauty can be highly effective at producing Energy, without what we would traditionally believe is a sexual act. Most Members of the Order raise Energy without the use of traditional sex. Members who feel comfortable doing so, who are close to one another, may choose to use more intimate sex to raise more Energy. Raising EnergyRaising Energy is commonly used for the purpose of affecting our lives for the better. It is a precursor to any spell or visualization. When properly directed, Energy can shape the world around us to work to achieve the vision we see in our mind's eye, or to lend true power to a spell. Therefore, it is important to focus on the desired direction of the Energy we produce during a rite. If there is no specific purpose or vision, then we focus on storing the Energy within ourselves, for the purpose of general well-being. Sex and PowerFrom our Core Beliefs: All Life is balance between Feminine and Masculine. As the Goddess give us Power by way of the Woman, and as Man is temporary steward of Her Power, our sex rites often center on the transfer of Power between Woman and Man. We celebrate the granting of Power to Man, and the return or reclamation of Power by Woman. In fact, sex rites generate Energy for Woman's use. As we worship the Goddess, and Woman with Her Love and Her Power as an incarnation of the Goddess, who better to properly direct Energy to the benefit of our lives? Celebrants in any sex rite focus their attention on directing the Energy produced to Woman. Before explaining the details of particular rites, it is evident that sex between Woman and Man, indeed between two partners of any gender, usually reflects a superior and inferior position, whether or not the celebrants think of it that way. Simply put, the so-called "missionary" position puts Man at the superior, and Woman at the inferior. To our Order, we see that as an attempt to claim Her Power as Man's own, and a lack of recognition that Her Power is ultimately Feminine. That doesn't mean that this position should be avoided -- but it means that celebrants using this position must be extra cautious to direct their focus on delivering the Energy produced to the Woman. Man and his Masculine aspect must not be allowed to forget that the Divine Feminine is the source of the Power of which he is a steward. Basic Principles of Sex RitesThere are a few basic principles that hold true for all sex rites, including those which do not involve traditional sex (e.g., focusing on Attraction, Arousal, Passion, etc.) But first, a brief discussion on the purpose of sex rites. PurposeWe use sex rites for three primary purposes. The first is that of raising Energy, as the Goddess has given us Her Love and Her Power and intends us to experience them through the Life She has given us. The Goddess has also given us the ability to raise Energy so that we may use Her Energy to affect our lives and the lives of those around us for the better. The second use of sex rites is to address perceived imbalances in the Feminine and Masculine aspects of our lives and the lives of those around us. For instance, if we perceive an overabundance of the Goddess' Masculine aspect, She expects us to address that by increasing the Feminine Energy around us or decreasing the Masculine. Finally, sex rites can be used to give celebrants a more spiritual experience of the Goddess, Her Love, or Her Power, or of her Feminine or Masculine aspects. As the Goddess expects us to know Her Love and Her Power, and to share that knowledge, we can do so more effectively the better we understand it. ReleaseThe most important principle of our sex rites is the role of release. As the Goddess' Power is manifested by Attraction, Arousal, and Passion, the greatest degree to which these aspects can be generated will result in the greatest production of Energy. Masculine release, orgasm and ejaculation, is a complex experience which generates a great deal of Energy at its peak, but then completes the transfer of Power back to Woman. Immediately after orgasm, Man cannot properly steward the Goddess' Power, and therefore no longer retains Her Power. It is at that time that Man must especially meditate on the Divine Feminine, and the Woman he is with as an incarnation of the Goddess, Her Love, and Her Power. This meditation or focus helps to maintain the wholeness of Man, and reminds him that all that is Masculine is but an aspect of the Goddess. Even if Man does not focus on a direction for the Energy he releases, Woman, as sacred Vessel of the Goddess, will receive and absorb it with little effort. She may then direct it, using the Goddess' Power, as desired. Orgasm and release in Woman is generative. As an incarnation of the Goddess, Woman generates a great deal of Energy internally during orgasm. Release at the end of orgasm allows the Energy to dissipate. In traditional sex between non-celebrants, you can see it float away. Focus and concentration is required in order to retain the Energy internally. Therefore, focus and concentration, especially during orgasm by Woman or Man, is critical in order to direct the Energy produced to the Woman, so that She may direct it as desired. When properly executed, it is an ecstatic experience for Woman, as she becomes one with the Goddess. PowerThe second basic principle is the role of Power during the rite. Woman as host to Her Love and Her Power is capable of generating vast amounts of Energy. Therefore the purpose of most rites is to transfer the Goddess' Power to Woman. Attraction, Arousal, and Passion combine with Woman's natural Beauty, Love, and Ecstasy, to make Woman the natural Vessel for the Goddess' Love and Her Power. These rites do not require release or orgasm. Sexual tension which is commonly felt among those who are close but not intimate is an aspect of Goddess' Power. Focusing and directing that Power to Woman is a highly effective form of raising Energy. In fact, many women have learned this through experience in their daily lives, without even truly understanding the Goddess. To summarize, we have the role of release in sex rites: most rites do not require release. When Man experiences orgasm, he releases his Power into Woman (whether or not by intercourse -- this is a spiritual release, not a physical one). When Woman experiences orgasm, she must focus to retain the Energy released internally, or she may direct it as desired. Same-Gender RitesThere is a role for same-gender sex rites. Women and Men, properly concentrated, are both aspects of the Goddess. As sacred Vessels of the Goddess, it is easier for Women to raise Energy than for Men. But Men may also raise Energy by properly focusing on the Divine Feminine.WomenWhen we see the Goddess' Love and Her Power in a Woman, we worship Her as an incarnation of the Goddess. No rite is more sacred than the celebration of Her Love and Her Power within a sacred Vessel. Two Women celebrating Her Love and Her Power is doubly generative. We see a sort of self-worship, as the Goddess incarnate shows us how She is to be worshipped. In these rites, there are not two Women: only two aspects of the Goddess and Her Divine Feminine, who become One with the Goddess through the rite. MenWhen we see the Goddess' Love and Her Power in a Man, we revere him as an uncommon Vessel of the Goddess. Because our sex rites involve the transfer and return of Power, Man must meditate, focus, and become as close to the Goddess as he can. This permits the other Man to release his Energy into Her without it being lost. There is a danger that the Masculine, destructive aspect will dominate in these rites between Men. Special care must be taken to embrace the Divine Feminine. One Man must truly become One with the Goddess, embracing especially Her Love, which is more typically found in Woman. Rites With More than TwoSex rites with more than two celebrants are also possible, and can generate vast amounts of Energy if properly executed. Typically these rites involve Women and Men, with a single Woman being the focus of the rite. As we worship the Goddess, we see Her Love and Her Power in a Woman, and She is an incarnation of the Goddess. Women and Men celebrants direct their Energy for Her use as desired. For these rites to be effective, they must take place as a single rite. It is ideal if all celebrants are within physical proximity of one another, but a lesser degree of Energy may also be raised through synchronous, focused action when physically separated. Often a sex rite may take place between a Woman and Man with others assisting but not participating. In these cases, the Power aspects of Arousal and Passion are present among the others, even though they may not be directly participating. Combined with the Beauty and Love of the principle rite, Energy is also raised and should be directed to the Woman. Solitary RitesSometimes it is not practical to perform a rite with others. Solitary rites are complex but can also be effective in raising Energy. As in the case of same-gender rites, Woman may more easily raise Energy than Man, but Man may also benefit from solitary rites. WomanAs a sacred Vessel of the Goddess, Woman may perform solitary rites to raise Energy. To her natural Love and Beauty she must add Her Power, so that they may be combined to raise Energy. This can often be accomplished by visualizing the Goddess reclaiming Her Power from Man. As Woman draws this Power forth from Man, she becomes One with the Goddess. Alternatively, as the Goddess is the source of all Love and Power, Woman can call forth Power directly from the Goddess. She can see the truth in the Divine Feminine, encompassing both Love and Power, and call them forth together to raise Energy. ManAs a steward of the Goddess' Power, it is more difficult for Man to raise Energy alone. The Goddess, through Woman, must reclaim Her Power, and must provide Her Love in order to raise Energy. Man must embrace the Divine Feminine in order to raise Energy alone. Solitary rites of Man typically have one of two purposes: raising Energy for solitary use, which is the more difficult; or raising Energy to be directed for Woman's use, or as an offering to the Goddess. As an offering to the Goddess, raising Energy by Man involves proper focus on an aspect of the Goddess, usually Her incarnation of Woman and the Divine Feminine. If culminating in release, the Energy raised is returned to the Goddess. It is most effective if Man visualizes this Energy as being directed for Woman's use. Raising Energy for solitary use cannot include release. The Power aspects of Attraction, Arousal, and Passion must be combined with the Love aspects of Beauty and the Divine Feminine, in order to maintain a level of Energy that can be used for general well-being. However, this cannot be continued indefinitely. Woman must reclaim Goddess' Power from Man, or else that Power will be put to destructive use by the Masculine aspect. It is exceptionally difficult for Man to direct that Energy for his own benefit without Woman. To do so involves a near-transcendental experience to embrace the Divine Feminine, and essentially become an uncommon Vessel of the Goddess. Doing so requires total control of the Masculine aspects that form a core of Man.
