Tress

Before Link washed up on the shores of Koholint, he had a whole life in Hyrule and a very big part of that life was Tress. As Link is the Hero of Time, Tress is considered the Hero of Destiny among the Hylian people and although her feats are nowhere near as legendary as Link's, she sees herself very much as his equal in strength, although she admittedly gets jealous of his fame from time to time.

Tress' primary interaction with Koholint is through the incredible mental powers that Zelda manifests as the story progresses. Although a bit boastful and silly, Tress proves herself time and time again to be a valuable helper when it comes to fighting monsters and solving riddles.

Despite all her bravado, Tress carries an enormous guilt with her, owing to the death of her family at the hands of Ganon. At times, she feels both useless and unimportant, due mostly to her loneliness which nearly leads her to steal Valerie's body in order to stay on Koholint.

For the most part, Tress pretty much wears her heart on her sleeve. One of her few secrets is her decided attraction to Richard, which may or may not be a catalyst for the later developments that take place between Richard and the real Valerie.
