Tarin

One of the first people Link encounters after washing up on the shores of Koholint, Tarin is a kindly old man who is beloved by all of the Mabe Village. Throughout the series, as Link and his friends go off on their wild adventures, Tarin remains a pillar of strength, even without knowing it.

A bit prone to babble, Tarin constantly remains fiercely loyal to those he loves. He accepts Link almost without question and even when he starts to question Link from time to time, he always realizes his errors in the end and makes amends.

A loving father, Tarin is completely unaware of the nature of the relationship between Link and his daughter. Although they hide many things from him, Tarin is forever kind and patient when it comes to secrets, but he's no pushover. Tarin is never afraid to speak his mind, whether it's bringing Richard down a peg, or doting over his little girl.

Although technically not much of a secret, Tarin's fiercely overprotective nature of Zelda often leads him to lose his cool and misunderstand things. He even goes so far as to forbid Zelda from seeing Link, but once he understands that what they have is true love, Tarin is nothing but remorseful for his rash decision.
