Link is one of the primary protagonists of the "Secrets" series. Prior to arriving on Koholint Island, Link participated in the defeat of Ganon when he tried to take over Hyrule (in the events of Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, the game released before Link's Awakening).

At a very young age, Link was named the Hero of Time by the Wise Men of Hyrule. Although quite hesitant to accept this calling, Link grew up to be the hero everyone dreamed he would be. His life up until his arrival on Koholint, however, was tainted by sadness. Eight years prior, his best friend and childhood sweetheart, Princess Zelda, was lost in a shipwreck.

On Koholint, Link is a bit of an outsider. He is the first Hylian that the majority of the inhabitants have encountered and without a question the first to arrive from another land. He's quick to make friends, but just as quickly makes enemies. Throughout the course of his stay on Koholint, Link desperately falls in love with the daughter of an islander named Tarin, who everyone else knows as Marin.

Link is one of the few characters who first appears in the "Secrets" series without any significant secrets. As the story progresses, he gradually becomes responsible for keeping the secrets of many other characters. Although he tries, Link is never quite able to hide his feelings for Zelda.
