Cruise on the Vltava River
|
 |
The last night in Prague we had a
dinner cruise on the river Vltava, known internationally as the
Moldau River. To all you musicians, yes, the same Moldau River in
Bedrich Smetana's Ma Vlast. After dinner there was a dance
going on below deck, but I couldn't get in the mood for dancing
anyway. Then one of my friends (no names - hehe) had a little incident
on the dance floor and refused to go down there again, so a couple
of us just stayed on the top deck chatting and enjoying the sights
of Prague after sunset. |
The day started with me having to
haul my luggage down nine flights of stairs in the hotel - the
elevators are never there when you need them. On the way to
Marianske Lazne the Red Bus broke down, so we were dropped off at
a convenience store to have lunch while the our Blue Bus went back
to help. When we finally got to Marianske Lazne we tried to
explore the streets a little, but most of the stores were closed
and we couldn't find much to do. We did however find an ice cream
stand that sold ice cream at the equivalent of 10 cents a scoop.
For the rest of the time before we left for the concert our posse
just hung out in the Rave Shack playing cards and watching TV.
Our final dinner was held at the
Rudesheimer Schloss, celebrating the end of a very successful
tour. The hotel rooms were tiny - mine was just big enough for a
king size bed and not much else. That night our posse formed a
"master plan" to stay up all night and avoid the
chaperones, with the Rave Shack (actually more like the Rave
Cubicle) as the headquarters. We even had a password and
everything, but as it turned out they didn't impose a curfew on us
that night and let us explore Wiesbaden. So we did that, but
nothing was open at 15 minutes after midnight, and then we got
busted by some chaperones for being outside boundaries we didn't
even know existed. After we made our way back to the hotel most of
us ended up going to sleep anyway, but that was okay because we had
to get up at 5 am to catch the plane the next morning.
