Max and Moritz Go Scots

Here´s a translation into Scots of the beginning of Wilhelm Busch´s "Max und Moritz" from J.K.Annand and a second one in Glaswegian from Stephen Mulrine

What for maun we thole laddies
when they are sic awfu baddies !
For ensample let me save ye
frae a pair like Dod and Davie,
wha insteid o tryin harder
to be guid lads, get nae farder;
slee wee deils, they smirk and snicker,
lauchin gars their badness siccar,

Haw, the wicked things weans dae,
ye read ur hear aboot, lik say
fir instince these two, ay -
Matt an Malkie, as thur cried.
Well, inteid a daein right,
they wur bad, jist oota spite.
They´d nae time fur moral books,
sniggered it thum up thur jouks

Drinking Poem

Sae fill up yer glasses, let the bottle gae roon
fur the sun has come up, tho the mune hae gane doon
an if the room be rinnin roon aboot, there´s time enough tae flit
fur when we fell, we aye got up again, an sae will we yet !
