Welcome to my web page. This page is intended for fellow gardeners who want to follow the happenings in and around my garden. I'll go ahead and give you a quick history of the pictures you'll find on these pages. We've owned this house in Wichita Falls Texas for about four years now and the vast majority of the pictures on this site have been taken during the last three. It's difficult to have a web page about a garden without including a lot of pictures so I've included many pictures most of which have a brief description under them. Before we moved to Texas I lived in Wichita, Kansas but I had never had any interest in gardening and didn't really know anything about it till we moved down here. When we bought this house there was basically no landscaping so we had blank canvas to work with. We've planted everything over the last several years, except the cedar elm tree on the side of the house and the pecan tree in the back yard.
In November 2002 we will moving to Biloxi MS so this will be the last year of Texas gardening for me, actually I'm very excited about this move. After four years of trying to get plants to grow in the brick hard red clay of north Texas in week after week of 100+ degree days without rain the rainy zone 8 climate of Biloxi sounds like a gardener's paradise. Also the thought of getting to start a new garden now that I have a little bit of an idea of what I'm doing gives me a special feeling. The middle picture above is of our front yard and the Crepe Myrtle tree we planted about two years before this picture was taken (Fun Fact: The Crepe Myrtle is the official tree of Wichita Falls, Texas). The two pictures on the left are of Paul James, host of Gardening by the Yard on HGTV; and a field of Kansas sunflowers. The two pictures on the right are of the world famous Wichita Falls and the Redding House in Biloxi. I had to put a picture of Paul James in a prominent spot since I have to give much of the credit for my current love (some might say obsession) with gardening. If you're not familiar with his show it airs at 10:30 AM CST on Saturday and Sunday (times subject to change), I highly recommend watching it even if your not into gardening, he's funny. Hope you enjoy my page. If you have any questions or comments, or would just like to say hey, feel free to leave a message in the guest book on the index page or to e-mail me at [email protected].
