Tariyel, Son and Consort of the Goddess, Lord of all Matter

Tariyel was created out of Saromata's loneliness and desire for company. Well pleased with him, she later made a gift to him of dominion over the elements and all that could be formed from them. In return, he formed the world, the sun and stars, and the moon to please her.

Unlike Saromata, Tariyel is far more worshipped in his Aspects than as a single god. While he has very few temples devoted to him in his Unity, he does have many monasteries. There, contemplative women and men meditate on the nature of the world, and how the disparate elements are reconciled and unified in living creatures. Only the priestesses of the Vision Crone can come close to matching the lifestyle of these unique monks.

The Elemental Lords

There are four Elemental Lords. Three serve as consorts to Saromata's Faces. The fourth has maintained his independence.

The Sun Lord is the most popular lord. As King of the Sky he is the consort to the Corn Mother, and occassionally challenges the Air Lord for the Queen's affections. As the more humble Hearth Father, he is husband to the Hearth Mother. He also embodies the aspects of Fire. (Oddly, inspiration is not one of these; it is seen as the province of Air.)

The Air Lord is the patron of artists, poets, craftsmen, and others who create. The expression in Saromatia is that "an idea has blown into my ear!" His winds are thought to blow scattered ideas hither and yon, depositing them in the ears of his lucky faithful. As unsteady as the wind, though, his inspiration cannot always be counted on. He is the consort of the Queen, but also spends a good deal of time chasing the Maidens.

The Stone Lord rules over all things under the earth and in it. The Old Rich Man is invoked by blacksmith and jeweler alike. Since he owns the stones from which it is carved, he shares the Underworld with the Death Crone, to their mutual displeasure. His glorious bejeweled palace is said to be a place of refuge in the Underworld.

The Storm Lord has kept free of Saromata somehow. His domain is the sea, the river, the rain. He has a certain kinship with the Forest Maiden, but keeps his distance from both respect and fear. He values his independence.
