In the mid 1970's, a small group of Lancaster County parents came together to benefit their children born with spina bifida. Families expressed concern and frustrations over lack of local services and information; thus the Spina Bifida Association of Lancaster County was born.
With the help of local professionals and organizations, the group grew to 45 concerned people at our first family meeting. Over the years, local individuals born with spina bifida, their families and friends, put in many long hours fundraising and developing programs in Lancaster and the surrounding counties. Now as other Spina Bifida support groups across PA have come and gone, closed up operations or lost leadership, their members have joined us.
With the help and support of many, especially the Lancaster County Corvette Club, we have been able to grow over the years to our current position as an agency that serves those born with spina bifida across most of PA. We thank all those who helped make this possible, and ask for your ongoing support.
